Ooooooh that thing, I hadn't removed that guy. Why are you taking it off?
I can see the issue now, that's tight!

Because I ordered a whole new part. Only way to get rid of using the stupid star key thing that some of them had on factory and go back to the regular way of getting it down. The whole part was as much as the little key peice.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.

Ah I had forgot about that. Dang...
Well, looks like taking the bed off isn't too terrible.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bed-removal.415381/
You'll definitely need some extra hands to handle the shell and the bed.

Short of cutting holes in the bed or cutting the bracket off I can't see any other way to get to that part :(

My guess is I can break them loose then I can use a jack and a 4x4 to prop the bed up while I loosen it.

Edit: Also if anyone wants to go play around at holy Jim I'm going over there soon from HB. Then I'll probably just be working on my truck for the rest of the day.

I was driving from El Cajon to Huntington Beach for just over a year approx. 124mi... ONE WAY...!!! Hence, roughly 248mi in ONE DAY!!! Doesn't include the "F"ed-UP traffic I had to deal with going back home!!! I just couldn't do it anymore and the reason I moved closer to work and have been here since around 2006ish. Then, I eventually met ALL of you FOOLS!!! :crapstorm::crapstorm::crapstorm: LMAO!!!:laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Btw, MOST of that daily commute was with my Civic when my drive-by shooter '89 Chrysler New Yorker's drive shaft disconnected at the universal near the pumpkin while I was driving to work one morning!!!:goingcrazy::annoyed: All of a sudden I hear a BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM underneath the car???!!!:confused::confused: Happened right next to "Dolly Parton's breasts (San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant... heading 5N).

Yeah, if you have to loosen/remove the bed... THAT MrFr is F'N pretty HEAVY!!! DO NOT let it fool you and you're going to "F"-UP your back for sure if you are NOT careful!!! Plus, re-aligning the bed, for me at least, was a major PITA!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you have help. Just know that it is heavier than you think!!!

When I was bolting the bed back on, I noticed that one corner has a hole just the size of the bolt itself? I'm thinking that you use this FIRST to bolt the bed down and it is, more or less, being used as a sort of "alignment key", if you get what I'm trying to describe? I didn't notice this until well AFTER the fact!!! Just letting you know what "I" saw when I had to move my bed to do some work.

    Hope this helps!!!

Nothing scares the kids away more than cursing at the TV for the Dodgers game. More full size candy bars for the ones that come up I guess (and me :D )

Seeing the kids eyes light up when you say "take a handful" is quite literally the best thing ever! Also, "that bag looks a little empy, let's fill it up" has been working well! The parents in the neighborhood hate me!
