Not sure what's going on but the auto convert on TW wasn't working on these photos.

Depended on the trails we were doing and the conditions. Ran 16 or so for the Kokopelli, started on Hell's on like 10 but it was way too low since Hell's is like pavement. 14 seemed like a happy medium for my truck and Moab. Not a whole lot of pointy rocks out there, so lower than that makes your steering work twice as hard especially on slick rock.

Haha I don't collect patches "just because" but I would make an exception for that one. All my patches are in memoriam for trips/epic camp sites.

Love the build, been following in the shadows since before I had an account.

Question, do you notice any hood glare with your light bar? Been wanting one, but as I'm lunar mist as well, I'm concerned about the glare.

Yes and the glare is terrible! Especially out west the combination of the hood glare and the dust inside/outside made it so I couldn't see shit in the desert. I currently am working on a glare shield for the bar itself that will fix all of these things. Ideally it will block all light till just past the edge of the hood.

Dang, sorry to hear that... I've seen guys do matte black hood wraps to fight that, but it sounds like you're going for that scoop that mounts up right underneath the light? I've seen guys make those too, but I'd just do it myself cause they're overpriced imo. Definitely post results!

Oh yeah I am definitely doing it myself. Bad enough I paid as much as I did for the mounts, definitely not putting more money into those glare shields. He charges like $120+ for those.

So I've got patches now, can I participate in this thing called "overlanding"?

    IMG_8594.jpg

Got all my patches from the recent trip up! As i've stated before I don't typically want patches just to have a patch. I want patches that commemorate trips or epic camp sites. So I got and was given some patches for the recent trip and couldn't be more stoked. The Rock Therapy one is self explanatory. :p Very happy to be a part of that event this year. Next up is Shawnee National forest when I camped there on the way out. @jubei gave me the Expedition Colorado patch (As well as some delicious Tin Cup whiskey that I have been enjoying very much) and it works out perfectly as the first nights we camped at the start of the Kokopelli was in Colorado. Next up is the Moab patch given to me by @HolyHandGrenade. This is a perfect patch to commemorate my epic spot on Dome as well as exploring Arches the next day. Last but not least is the Red River patch for when I camped at almost 12 thousand feet up at Goose lake. I can't wait to go on more adventures and get more. A full headliner for me will show many adventures and good times with good people and I love that idea.

I’m on the fence about RTT’s.

I’m so accustomed to ground tents. My go to tent is my 20 year old, 2-person, 4-season, full fly with vestibule. It’s so easy to pitch and is efficient at shedding rain and wind. It was one of the few tents standing during the great rain and windstorm of Takeover 2016.

I actually ordered an RTT early this year. But after I saw @HomerTaco curse the wind gods after a rough night of battering winds in his cap mounted RTT... I cancelled the order that same day.

    I guess I’m old skool.

Yeah I am torn on the situation. A good four season tent is half way ore more to a roof top tent. The benefit I'd get out of the RTT is getting some cab space back. A RTT would move my sleeping bag, foam pads, tent and pillow to the RTT for perm storage. That's basically half the shit in my back and front seat, leaving the back seat 100% open for my fridge, clothes bag, laptop, camera gear. That's huge for a first gen extra cab. Plus the ability to have it a cozy 4 season with a tent heater and annex, being up and away from mud and rain, makes it extremely appealing to me.

But don't get me wrong, I know there are disadvantages too. Needing to have a level camp spot or an easy way to level the rig, needing to set the tent up every night if you want to go some place, and adding 150 lbs of weight in the back with the bed rack/tent are huge disadvantages as well.

I was at a loss during the great windstorm of Takeover 2016. And after I saw everyone's crazy rigs, I got a RTT. Now I cant camp without it.

It probably sounds stuck up, but I cant imagine sleeping on the ground. I even tried to sleep in a hammock, but it turns out I need something lay on to sleep. I could probably relax in a hammock, but a RTT is soo much nicer. (PS my tent is not the one you guys are talking about. Although Ive had one. There are definitely positives and negatives to both styles that Ive had)
