I just bought my first Tacoma last week (2013 double cab TRD sport). It's stock right now, but I want to get around a 3" lift with some new wheels and tires. I'm brand new to the taco world and don't really have any experience with lifts and such. I'm on a modest budget (being a teacher doesn't leave me with an awful lot of extra spending money) and am wondering where I should begin... So my main questions are:

    1. What lift kit do you recommend that is affordable/good on the highway? It'll mainly be used as my everyday driver with some off-roading on the weekends.

    2. What size tires/wheels should I be looking for? I don't necessarily want my tires rubbing.

Sorry if these questions seem really basic, I'm just completely new but I'm looking forward to the community!

Alot of people like the Bilstein 5100 shocks.

fronts are height adjustable, and can be paired with aftermarket springs, or just adjusted with stocks to gain height.

For a better ride, I would venture to suggest adding an aftermarket spring like the OME 885. It will provide 3in (ish) of lift in your double cab and will allow the shock to remain on the lowest setting. Basically the spring would be lifting, not the adjustment collar on the shock.

As for the rear, An Add-A-Leaf kit is a pretty common suggestion around these parts, unless youve got some loose change, then OME Dakar leaf packs are an exelent option. I myself am going with an ICON progessive AAL...

the setup I just explained is the route im going. There are cheaper options... but if your doing any kind of offroading, I wouldnt suggest using a Space/Block lift... just wont jive well, and will probably ride like shit and cause you more headache than its worth.

There are ALOT of dealers on here that can get you some killer deals on a lift package with the 5100/OME combo and w/e AAL youd want... just depends on budget.

Happy lifting, and Welcome to TW.
