Ok.. so Ive made the decision to go for it and tackle the retrofit build myself.

I realize that you have to pay for time, but I just cant justify spending a MINIMUM of $600 for a pair of headlights when it seems to be pretty straight forward, just time consuming.

    So.

Im going to be purchacing the "universal" kit from The Retrofit Source. Still on the fence about the D2S it vs the Mini H1. Im not doing a halo, or demon eyes, or any of that fancy bullshit. Im going for as close to a factory look as possible. Which is why Im going with a clean and simple shroud as well.

This brings me to the reason you clicked here.

Are the D2S housings too large for a factory headlight bucket? They come with the brackets to mount into a H4 slot... just wondering if the lens will be too close to the glass of the headlight and cause issues.

Do the D2S housings mount similar or identical to the mini H1 housings?

Is the larger lens really worth it? or would I even be able to tell a difference in output/cutoff?

    Any help is appreciated.

I tried to seek out someone who does retrofits, but I got tired of looking for peoples threads.

    Thanks TW.

Look up online the new morimoto holder, it explains wat it does, the d2s doesn't need it bcos it comes with something similar to that, I was told u might need it

Retrofit came along way from wat it was years ago, they developed a morimoto holder for h1 projectors, I believe the kit u got comes with everything u need to complete this kit, but with the new holder they say it's better to have, it makes it easier to along and work with. I got the d2s 4.0 and it came with something similar to tightened the projectors.
