I have done some searching and can’t find anything on this so please don’t hang me if this has been figured out already.

I am wondering how trucks with the electronic traction control (09+) would react if you put a true limited slip third member in.
Would it work fine and not activate the auto lsd, or would it cause the computer to try and double down and use the brakes as well?

I am only considering a lsd with clutch packs and not the gear styled as I like the setup of the clutch packs better.

Basically I would like to do this with out having to disable traction control every time I turn my truck on and having my dash lit up like a christmas tree.

I am looking into this one specifically:

I could also source a factory one off of an 05-08 but I think after rebuilding it, it would probably be cheaper to buy new.

Assuming the LSD is in good shape, the mechanical LSD should engage and start to transfer power before the electronic LSD kicks in, so you would see a reduction of the Electronic-LSD engaging. Remember the Electronic-LSD is going to kick in only after the wheel spin has already occurred and differences in wheel speed greater than the allowed range are detected, it will then react. Even if the Electronic-LSD kicks in, it would only help as applying the braking force to the spinning wheel would transfer more power to the wheel with traction through the mechanical LSD.

Curious why you are only interested in a clutch based LSD vs the torsion based TrueTrac, which will not wear out like a clutch unit?

Definitely go aftermarket vs used OEM.

I actually consider doing this to my 2015 Off-Road as a mechanical LSD is more useful to me daily than the locker.
