its pretty gnarly, amazing how different the landscape is just a few hours from Los Angeles is. Mind blowing. I cant imagine how it is during sun rise or sun set.

My weekend adventure, tried to make it to the tower. ONy to end up having to back down the tight ass trail in snow. Not a lot of fun let me tell ya. 5C9F6AF0-A8CF-461B-9975-659CF421010D.jpg

It’s an easy trail in the summer time, I wasn;t sure if there would be snow or not, so I took off and figured I’d give it a go. Easy for 75% of the trail unti I got to the saddle right before the tower, about 300-400ms away, I encountered about a foot of snow. Someone had gone through recently (last week or so) with large 35” tyres I am guessing due to the size of the ruts. Sadly those ruts were packed and slick. I slide drivers side trying to get to the tower, thought I was going over at one point. Took me 20mins to get there and about 60mins to back out as I couldn’t see the trail (Sun and there was no definition in the snow in my mirrors or back up camera).

If you haven't already, look for Mountain State Overland on YouTube. Their most recent series has lots of off road / technical work. Its a great series. (also takes some of the sting out of being east coasters...)

Umm no fear of heights as you're gonna be backing up inches from the edge of a cliff a hundred times :D

Sliders were used, and front bumper would've been nice to have as a feeler. The guys hauling the trailer up were insane. After doing it in person there's no way I'd ever try and take a trailer up that thing.

This is the Gifford Pinchot National Forest up in Western Washington, not to much off roading but heck of a lot of fun running dirt roads and throwing a fishing line in some lakes! IMG_0832.jpg

The Mrs and I are celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary so we headed down to Zion/Springdale for a long weekend away from the kiddos. We got married down here so we come back often. We got in early for dinner but too late to go for a bike ride so we decided to take a drive out to the Red Bull Rampage site to see exactly how crazy these dudes are.

In summary, these guys are fucking nuts. Seeing the drops and jumps in person puts things into perspective. Pretty much every landing is blind, everything is steeper and looser than you can imagine. Insane. Also, seeing the amount of work done to make this stuff rideable is mind blowing.

We’re going to get our version of rad on at Guacamole and Gooseberry...
