Truck shudders as it downshifts into lower gears. Thought rotors were warped but it vibrates without braking also if left in second gear it can be felt continuously. Called salesman got transferred to service where the reply was "they all do that. I get 5 calls a week and it is completely normal! You can bring it in but there is nothing that can be done". Asked to be sent back to sales and got different salesman Whom owns a 2017 taco that doesn't shake and says He never heard of that problem. Talk about a disconnect between two departments! Brought truck in so service could test drive and when I walked in the door Rep, said just so You know, they all do that in fact We had one in yesterday, I just don't want You yelling at Me! Guess what..She reports Her shop Foreman drove it and that it is completely normal. The truck did not do that when I drove it off the lot but started at about 2000 miles and now at 3000 it is getting worse. Asked how to create a tech file and She wants Me to contact the Service Manager to see what He can do. I thought there wasn't anything that can be done? Well maybe He can come up with something. He informed Me of T-SB-0171-16 which He has never done. I wonder what ALL the other customers did? This is My 3rd new taco '09 '12 and '17 each has had one issue or another and Toyota always seems suprised even though it has been talked about many times on threads like this one.

You need to be able to clearly express exactly what is going on, but skip the lower personnel. Go directly to the service manager or his boss and ask for someone to ride with you. Keep calm, be very direct but pleasant. If you get all pissy they won’t help you at all. Salesmen don’t even know their product, service, management, corporate are your avenues now.

Mine does this too, doesn’t seem to be getting worse with mileage yet though I havnt even hit 1k so far. Kinda feels like it’s just the trans down shifting like it’s using an engine brake. Kinda interested to see if they are able to resolve anything for you, especially now that I’m going to be paranoid that it will get worse as the mileage goes up.
