I have the same problem. I think the lift looks better and is better controlled when going down slower, but it does drain the energy bad. To remedy it, I always focus on that specifically before I lift the bar. I have a checklist lol:

1. check grip width
2. check wrist angle
3. make sure feet are planted in the right spot for proper hip drive
4. adjust shoulder blades
5. focus on coming down fast, but not so fast that I'll crush my sternum
6. go!

In all, it's about a 15-20 second process

 

I keep most of my stuff on my phone’s notes but also have an excel file on my computer I update every so often.

And of course everything gets documented on instagram

Anybody ever tried the Beast protein? I'm looking at other brands to switch up from ON to try something different. Been looking at the Animal Whey(samples that I tried a while back were good), Beast protein, and ProJym. The last two I've never tried and they are blends.....

 

new lifting buddy really likes the kaged series of products. Taste seems good too. I havent tried beast though.

What lifting belt brand y'all like? I got a Lifting Large belt that has served me well for 5+ years. Thinking of going with the rogue ohio belt next as this belt is starting to die.

What were you doing that you caused a hernia?

 

Overhead dumbbell extensions. Didn't really think anything of It until it wasn't getting better. It's just my belly button area, no surrounding abs or groin pain

 

Belly button is common hernia area. Sucks. sorry buddy. My abs will cramp up and spasm sometimes on heavy benching..on those days I can't rack the weight fast enough to roll off the bench and into a ball.

 

I’ve only had it happen once but I was doing crunches. It felt like one ab stacked on top of another and I all but seized on the floor until it finally stopped and I could breathe again. I was in tears frozen on the floor for a good 10-12 seconds

 

Been there buddy. Had in Inguinal Hernia. Needed surgery....had meshing put in there. I remember being at work the day before surgery and I went pale and started sweating....felt like an elephant was standing on my nut mixed with a severe burning sensation.

Take it easy and try not to do anything to make it worse. Best of luck. If you do need surgery, know that hernia surgeries are the most common performed so, you can relax. Hope you recover soon bud.

 

I usually only cramp on crunches and smashing.

My abs freaked the hell out smashing a few nights ago. Like, had to roll around and was screaming. Freaked her out

 

My abs cramped once at the gym so bad it made me bend over into a ball. Only happened once and hasn't happened since. Sometimes I'll get hamstrings and foot cramps, but I can live with that.

MyProtein is cheap and super high quality. Taste is pretty good, but not ON good.

I have a Schiek I bought used from a dude on here and like it. @Newlife is the guru on this kind of shit.

Shit all talk of hernias now, got me worried! I didn't even know shit about them, now I find out all you meat heads have gotten then? Seems like a statistically high chance that by being in this thread I'll have one soon!
And getting one while smashing!? The fuck? How hard/what kind of crazy shit were you doing?
