Took a couple packages of stew meat out of the freezer while the power was out, since it's easy to do without electricity (just heat it up on the cookstove). Got the power back the next day  so the coworkers are getting treated to a batch of my venison stew today instead.

The GF doesn't really like venison, so it was either bring it in to work or spend a week trying to eat it all myself.

Two packets of stew meat is about 3-4lbs or so, which makes a big crockpot full of stew. I like venison stew, but having it for lunch and dinner every day for a week would get old.

Exactly. I'll save that sort of meal monotony for TEOTWAWKI

time to get a new GF;) just messing with ya. You could always freeze portions and then thaw later when you felt the need to eat some stew!:)

Nice, I was just looking at the canned venison I have in the pantry a little while ago thinking it's time to toss it and some veggies and such in the crock pot and make some venison stew. :) May do that this weekend for some good lunch eating next week.

Normally I would do exactly that, but right now I'm trying to prevent putting anything new into the freezers because they're already pretty full and I'm trying to leave as much room as possible so I can stuff the yearly pig in there in a couple of weeks. Usually works out to around 150-180lbs of meat, and I'm really not certain how I'm going to shoehorn that in there this year. :

A good problem to have, though.

Exactly. Day 6 of stew is just fine if it means not starving. Eternal Soup could be the Meal Du Jour for quite a while if need be. Nothing stretches your resources like soup/stew.

I’m the only one who will eat it in my family so I don’t make it very often.
