It's less Tacoma and more mod
I think it would have already, I drive my truck like a rented mule that's been renting out it's own mule whores. That little 4cyl is happy to sing at 5500rpm although torque falls off around 4800rpm. This isn't the 1950s when manufacturing tolerances were just maybes and babying the vehicle was the only was to get over 60,000mi before a rebuild. The 2TR and the 3RZ (my engine) are identical as far as lower block design and mines still running great despite the frequent flogging I subject it to. One redline won't kill it, hell I've bounced it up creek beds while the rev limiter heralds my arrival. I should mention that I have over 260K and the engine even survived a rollover and lives in my new truck body haha

Seems kinda sorry imo to put up a deposit and then try to renege later. Reminds me of when people wanna haggle with me over email about a part on Craigslist, and then when we meet start haggling from the already reduced but agreed upon price. Plus, if it's the truck you want and it'll be local for you, the $1000 extra might be worth it.

I’m not sure they would hold your feet to the fire, but they do have legal ground to say you are buying it at the agreed price or are paying for any financial burden they have encountered. Both parties have given consideration here and I assume there is some form of written contract? If there isn’t you may be ok since it is a good over $500. If you want to read up on it the universal commercial code would govern this transaction.

Edit: Just reread that it is a “refundable” deposit. If they agreed you can back out up front I wouldn’t feel bad in the least if you end up doing so.

Wait and buy new without any "drive test" on it. 1000 miles one way, gas, food, hotel, time to get a "tested" one is not worth it.
I was told the one North was tested for doughnuts and drifting...
Why not buy a V6 instead of L4??? You will regret it later.

+1. In the end the one “up north” with time, expenses, etc might be a wash.

Once you vehicle is ordered - negotiations are pretty much over. Only exception is if they ordered it wrong or something got damaged along the way.

    There's your sign.

When I got my tacoma, it was the last one available in the state, and pyrite was discontinued on the reg cab in 13. The dealer I was working with had one at another one of their locations. I think they sent a shop guy or two to in the shop truck to pick it up. Im sure they drag raced on the way back.

Most new vehicles have either been on a truck, train, or, ship new vehicles have also made their way around the production facility along with going to an outside accessory facility.

The customer never sees what their vehicle has been through before purchasing.

If the dealer tried to re negotiate he would be the worst person on earth , buy it and move on , you will be much happier in the long run

This, nothing is worse than a person backing out after making a deal.Personally I would tell you too get the other truck also.Who says the other truck does not maybe have something you cannot see wrong with it ,by the time you do the driving, the car rental, your time off of work, gas, you might as well just buy the one you ordered.

I was gonna let it pass, but since you bring it up, I hear way more complaints about the 3.5.

Was just reading the thread by the guy that hates his 3.5, and thinking I'm making the right decision!

That is certainly part of it, but certainly not all. It seems most people buying 4 cylinders knew what they were buying, some of the v6 folk thought they were buying m3s.
