I was told Nitro, not the vendor, was 6 to 8 weeks out on shipping and our orders were "drop shipped" which means direct from Nitro. Bummed, but will keep the faith.

Exactly! Its really all we can do. If it gets past 8 weeks then i think i may try getting my money back and going with a couple of other vendors who have them sitting on there shelves. Of course will be paying full price! I think we will be ok ! :fingerscrossed: I was hoping to have the regear done by Xmas but will have to wait and see.:santa:

other vendors know the situation Nitro is in. I have asked. They won't show their cards on pricing and I am not showing ours. Just going to wait it out for Holiday sales and or GB shipping to happen. Good news is I found two local shops that do REM and CRYO.

    Where you want to be
I did ask ECGS about this and their reply:

"We do not offer REM polishing on the gears, we can sell you the gears to be REM polished and then install them"

I did ask what he meant by "then install them" as I interpreted as the customer would install them so I wanted clarification from ECGS in which they replied:

"you would send the gears back to us for installation"

It would be nice if the vendor offered a "REM" package for those us who are willing to wait a extra few days. It doesn't make sense for gears to come to the customers house, have them polished, pay shipping back to ECGS, and then finally wait for the 3rd's to come back. :annoyed:

Sorry guys for some reason I haven’t been getting notifications! For the lot of you that were backordered I have good news. I heard directly from nitro that they will be in stock around the 15th ready to ship. They will let me know when they’re ready. Though he didn’t tell me how many he will have ready at that time.

not yet. called them to confirm they do the work. one pretty close to my home and the other a ways off. Plan on visiting their shops to check them out before deciding, and doing more research on both processes. Figure it should not be more than SDHQ advertises which is $230.

My 2nd gen parts arrive tomorrow!
This thread got me interested in Rem polish, a shop 70miles will do it for $150(you can ship to them). I dont see a need to Rem the front gears but will see what they would charge.
I'll post a pic should be a couple weeks at most. Sounds like the the 3rd gen guys will get stuff soon also!

Question for the group. If I understand correctly, there is a break in period for the Nitro Gears once installed. Curious why this is so, I don't remember having to break in the OEM gears. Therefore, the OEM gears were more 'polished' or better finished from the Toyota production? Or, you're supposed to break them in, but nobody ever does. Just not sure what's the difference, is all.

Guessing I'll be in 4HI down the freeway, stopping every :30 mins to cool down, etc. For what, the first 50miles or so?

Or sure about OEM break-in for diffs, but the new diffs need to be babied for the first 100 miles and no towing for the rest of the 500 miles. The varying heat cycles helps the break in process.

WHy do we pay attention to the Nitro Gears break in process, but not when buying a truck new (with the OEM diffs)?

Had the exact same questions and thoughts about break in on new gears. OEM gears in our vehicles are not REM or Cryo treated. I decided not to go Cryo or REM - but to vary speed and distance for first 500 miles and no towing. After that drive like normal and add a few towing cycles. Change fluid at 1000, check what comes out, drive normal.
