I put a front bumper from a 97 on my 2000 after my original was damaged. 20160422_175536.jpg

There are two horns bolted to the the front of the frame rails that have to come off. Then it bolts right on. Although now there is no low speed crash protection as the horns were ment to crush a bit if you hit something. The 97 bumper sits flush with the frame. It does look good tho.

Two horns on the frame rails? The 1995-2000 trucks only had 1 mounted way high adjacent to the passenger side headlight. Only 2001-2004 trucks had two horns and they were mounted in the same place. Can you elaborate on the horn situation?

98-00 are the horniest (frame horns that stick out like a bull - not sound horns :))

    Looks great OP!

So did that mean that the '95-'97 trucks have worse low-speed crash protection in the front since they don't have the frame horns?

I believe the 97-00 have the same designated bolts, just different bumper design.

My old 98 was toast when some douche decided to reverse down a one way street. I was lucky enough to find a newer model to pull the entire front end off of.

98-00 have longer frame horns than 95.5-97.

Frame horn. On the 2000 there is an extension that bolts on. Mine had taken a hit and was crushed. But it saved the end of the frame. I talking very low speed maybe 2mph.download.jpg
