To play the devil's advocate, I think the op expects there to be a minimum set of features that are standard on every vehicle... Kinda like all tacos have power windows.

Could be. Wouldn't argue some features would be on all vehicles, but should have looked at options and standard equipment before ordering and the bitching.

I know where the OP is coming from. Int wipers are on pretty much everything so it's one of those things that you assume are there until it rains.

I bought the basest of the base and was surprised by options it had that I did not expect. Power windows, heated power mirrors, tilt/tele, backup camera, steering wheel radio controls.
Still surprised me the first time I turned on the wipers and tried to figure out how they went on intermittent lol.

I'm just glad Toyota will sell one stripped down like the SR/util. Otherwise I would never of have bought a new truck.

I did...it took ten minutes. The switch cost $85.00 on ebay for a NEW Toyota part.

It’s ok OP. I had to buy an intermittent wiper. Cleans the shit really nicely.

It's ok op, I also didn't realize that the wipers weren't intermittent when buying. I think that is how I ended up here actually. A couple hundred bones and I had that, cruise control, and a backup camera. Hardly worth complaining about when you can fix it for $100 and 15 minutes of your time.

People that "expect" things in life without doing a little research are in for a very disappointing experience. Contrary to popular belief their expectations do not make things mandatory.

OP, take a little personal responsibility in why you're angry, add them if it's that important then move on and enjoy your truck.

I can see the point the OP is trying to make. You would think the truck would have them. I have an SR,bought it knowing it didn't come with int.wipers. I bought the switch and intstalled it. The SR comes with heated mirrors but no int wipers! I think it's kind of funny. Just like on my 2015 some switches weren't illuminated. Makes one wonder what Toyota is thinking sometimes.

OP, my dad had the basic 2009 Tacoma and it was very easy plug and play to add this option. I imagine it is the same for the new trucks, but I am sure some good folks on the forum know how to. First, you bought the most basic model, which I assume you knew about this before signing papers - I hope.

The heated mirrors that are standard with every Tacoma are very nice during cold winter months though.

    Good job Toyota!

OP.. I think most of us can agree that it seems a bit odd that Int wipers are not standard equip on almost any vehicle made today, possibly excluding fleet builds.

With that said, it is also "normal" for people to do a little bit of research when buying a vehicle. When a person spends $25 on an item not much research is typical and if it lacks features you thought it should have you call it a learning experience. Really why bother it is less than a typical dinner with the wife/girlfriend and the time spent researching could have been better spent earning more thant the possible $25 loss.

However if I am spending even $1k I dang sure want to take a bit of time checking to see what I get for my money and what the features are compared to the next model up and down. After all, I can not recoup a 1K loss in an hour or less as a general rule.

At this point, if I were you, rather that complain about Toyota screwed me, I would quietly find a way to undo the screwing. Fussing just kind of points out that you did not take more than 5 minutes to determine what you $20K+ was going to get you. :notsure:

With Rain X, even the slowest setting on intermittent wipers are too fast.

Most of the time, I prefer doing the 1 click up to when needed compared to the intermittent setting. Can't stand to watch the wipers swish when there barely anything to wipe.

I would think it would cost more to produce and stock two switches than to just put one switch in everything when the one switch can't cost much more than the other.

I have to agree with you there. A 10 second search shows retail from the dealer not significantly different. The part cost manufature should also be pretty close. Changing which part is used does add labor cost.
