    Shit! I already bought the paint and clear. How'd you sand the chrome off?

    You dont necessarily need to remove the chrome. It's almost like a really thick metal tape. Just sand the living shit out of it to rough up the surface. That will give you better adhesion. The problem is when you try to paint a smooth, glass like surface the paint has nothing to grip to.

    same. if yours isn't peeling already just a nice sanding should do it. use a sand block and then go back over it with 300 grit.

    @mbmack1 yeah man, I don't plan to remove the chrome entirely as I know that'd be a big pita. I think I've got 180 up to 400 grits to do before a filler primer and then painting. Debating on wet sanding afterwards depending on the orange peel.

    I never had to when I did either of my grille. Shit I never even sanded this one I have now and paint stuck fine
