    Hey folks!
I searched previous threads and couldn't find anything. I'm looking to replace my exhaust and id like some opinions. I don't want my truck to sound like someone farting into an empty can. I'm hoping to find a more truck like, deep sound. What are your opinions?
(I will probably change my air intake first with a Volant closed box cold air intake)

That perfect exhaust note will be tough with a 60 degree V6. If it were a 90 degree V it would be easier to get a throatier sound.

My personal experience is that the TRD has a decent sound...but is loud at certain rpms.

Unbolt the pipe at the cats, get a connection that bolts up to the area you just unbolted and weld some pipe up to a side pipe sticking out the right side. I am doing the same except im going two feet back or so to keep noise out of the cab and doing a downturn tip. Simple, cheap, loud. If you wanna try the sound, unbolt the connection, pull the pipe to the side and bungee it to the frame. Drive it for a few days.

I really wish I was confident and competent enough to try that out. Is there a video?

This connection by the red square. A 14 mm socket on a 1/2 ratchet should do it, there are two spring bolts that go into welded nuts, pull em out. Lube up the bolt as well if rusty. Then pull back and the pipe will be just on hangars. Reassemble when done the exact same way in reverse.

Give it a try, its gonna be loud in the cab but if you got the windows down it gives you a ballpark estimate of what it would sound like

So, the only thing that will be out of use is the length of pipe? Muffler and catalytic converter are still fully functional?

Kinda, your unbolting the Exhaust after all the cats, but before any of the mufflers. This is muffler deleting. It quite straight pipe.

I think these trucks sound decent muffler deleted at <4000 rpm, but after that they get a bit “v6ish” for my taste.

I have a borla cat back, and it’s ok. It’s pretty quiet of start up and idle. Moderate sound up until 2000 rpm and then it seems to open up and gets fairly loud.
It has a good tone all throughout the rpm range.

Magnaflow muffler MF performance is popular- the longer the muffler you choose the quieter the sound-

I have TRD exhaust and it sounds great for a V6. Very mild and not too loud or raspy.

No you are unbolting your muffler, catalytic converters are in place still. The muffler no longer being there makes it louder. The jones exhaust that Sean posted (Also known as the aeroturbine 2525) is also a good choice. Thats what is welded onto the section of exhaust i unbolted and removed to get me to pass new mass inspection.

With a aftermarket air intake the straight pipe can sound totally badass i think.... up until you start to sound like a civic at 4k plus rpms but eh oh well RICE POWERR! Cold start with the muffler delete honestly makes it sound like a V8 ram till its warmed up

I did it. Sounds good, but I want a little more refined sound. That Jones muffler looks like a good choice.

Did you have to weld it on?

Did you have to cut the stock muffler off and weld this in?
