Its almost time to go get some new tires. I was thinking of getting the Goodyear MTRs. Now I’ve seen a few mixed reviews but I’d like to see if anyone else has anything to say about them. I’m really interested to hear about tread life, wear, and ride.

Looking at pictures of these tires they look big compared to other tires of the same size. Can anyone confirm this in 285/76r16 compared to a BFG Ko?

They do look big. I had a set for 4 years on my jeep. 3 were great. 1 was not round...or it became that way. Thusly, it wore funny and got so loud, I literally had to wear ear plugs.

Great traction on rocks and mixed trails.

I ran them on a 1st gen Tacoma for several years then switched to Duratracs. The MTR great for offroad. Not good for wet pavement or daily commuting. Duratracs never gave me issues but some guys say the sidewalls on Duratracs suck. Duratrac was Light years better on pavement.

Yeah I think I’m going with the MTRs anyway. I’ve never liked the look of the duratracs. If they suck well then I’ll just have to deal with it.

Love my MTRs. They are amazing for off-roading, but not so good in the rain. However, IMO, they are better than BFG KM2 in the rain. At about 25k miles, they get pretty loud. I daily drive my Tacoma and find them to perform decently for being MTs. I would buy them again!
