Not hard or expensive. Your door is probably already aluminum, foil backed insulation and attach to ground done. Of course your garage door remote will no longer work.

The US could probably benefit from an annual “fire drill” of grid down for one week a year

    Just realized I’m a genius

Get a nice XC Bike and a Trailer to haul your bug out shit. If the radiation doesn't get you, being out of shape will.

Good training, if something happens they're more likely to stay calm and be able to do something other than be a victim or target depending on the situation.

Personally I'd love to go to a course like this, not only to learn the medical side but also to teach myself how to not get tunnel vision when stressed.

You're just jealous because my F150 seats more live people than your FJ loser and can still carry 1700lbs of dead bodies in the bed to the hog farm on top of that. :brianr:

Besides, My two EMP-proof rigs are both Dodges.

Modern vehicle are computers on wheels, if an EMP strike were to happen, almost no one would be driving anywhere. Plan accordingly.

Those of us who have done at least some prepping are way ahead of about 95% of the population. Hell, probably 99%.

So, say you have a mechanical injection diesel, get it running, and are driving around town. Will the cops give you a hard time for not having headlights, tail lights, or turn signals?

They'd have to chase you on foot to do it, so probably not. They'd probably just commandeer your truck instead.

If an EMP has the power out for any significant length of time with no timetable for getting it back on, the police would be more likely to commandeer your vehicle for their own use. Though the more likely scenario is you'd be carjacked and possibly killed by a looter. Though I think you were being sarcastic anyway. :)
