My college roommate and I had a pretty extensive jazz collection. We had great discussions of different players and always found that there was something new to hear and learn even though we had so many albums.

I still come across new stuff; great stuff all the time.

The biggest thing I miss downloading music digitally are the liner notes. That is the written history of a great style of music.

The other day, listening to a Sunday jazz show, the DJ played Donald Byrd - Chant from the same album name.
    Great album. All-star players.
Recorded in 1961 and released on Blue Note in 1972.

Sunday Jazz with David Kish - 6am-10am EST
Here's where you can find our treasure chest of all the performances and interviews we've conducted over the years as well as replays from our daily/weekly program features. From in-studio performances captured at our studios to hotel rooms around the country and big outdoor festivals like MerleFest and Newport Folk, to the most recent Blues@8 or Uncharted Waters program, it's all here.

I do like Jazz...when I catch it on the radio I leave it on for the rest of the ride. Unfortunatley I have no knowledge/background history as a basis to draw from. The stuff I like I know when I hear it.

I do like Vince Guaraldi a lot and the jazz fusion stuff like Steely Dan.

Walt Weiskopf is the latest sax player to play with Steely Dan. Check his stuff out. Great musician. Not really anything like the Steely Dan sound, but interesting to see how talented he is.

Here is another great look into the sax players of Steely Dan. I had no idea that Phil Woods played with them. That is very cool!

Vince Guaraldi = the original DrFunk. :D Definitely had his own "voice".

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Need to check out some of the stuff you've listed... I like reggae and some jazz, just not familiar with a lot of tunes, and ran across this band that has kind of a reggae jazz fusion sound I guess you'd say.. They're from Serbia.. Actually emailed the band, the guitar player emailed me back with the chord and scale structure, pretty cool of them to do..

Anyway I think this is a super chill song.. Maybe you'll dig it.

I just googled the list. It gives you about
3 different sources. Well 3 that are credible
    They are all pretty similar

I am all over the place with my likes but lately
Keith Jarrett, the Koln concert is always on the turntable. I grew up play a sax. But raised on country music. Musically I am wide open

Artist wise the lists don't change much where the albums land on the list is really only thing that changes Miles Davis the only constant on all the lists

My goal was to collect them all sit down listen to them all once on headphones and once at full volume on my altecs. And make my own list. Then take over the world. And while the world is not enough, who has time for the universe
