My father's 2008 trd sport went to the dealer for a new frame a couple months ago. He got it back today and the heat does not work. The fan still works fine just no heat. Anyone have any suggestions besides going back to the dealer?

    - The dealer said " we didn't touch anything that would have affected your heat." .....a** clowns

They disconnected the cab from the frame and drivetrain. This means the heater core was disconnected and drained. My new frame came with all new coolant. Maybe they just didn't bother to burp the air out of the system?

Now that you mention it, he did say they attempted to burp the system. I guess that didn't fix the problem. How long would it take to get heat after burping? He told me he drove it for about 10 miles with no heat.

If it had heat when you dropped it off they need to fix it.. and no heat from the core can be a sign that the cooling system is not working correctly! If there are air pockets in the cooling system engine damage may result!

yeah for sure. He dropped it off at the dealership again and they said " they will take another look at it." But we all knows what that means.

Make sure the system has plenty of coolant and turn the heat on and put your foot on the throttle. That should get the air bubble out of the heater core.

Maybe they capped a hose or tube while they had it apart and stuffed it back together without removing the cap. Maybe they kinked a heater hose.

Either way, the statement that they didn't touch anything that would affect your heat is an indicator of incompetence.

In all fairness, only the incompetence of the person making the statement.

Many times folks on the phone don't have experience in the wrenches.

Or the person on the phone just forgot/mispoke, as they were being hounded by customers wanting the air rotated in their tires. I mean I'm not a dealer fan by any means. They only see me for recall or warranty work.

However, again in the name of fairness, there are stupid customers too. And listening to them gets old. Fast. Enough to make one give wrong answers occasionally, even when one knows better.

    My temp thingy is on.
What do you mean, your "temp thingy"?
The light on the dash that says, temp.
    Go shut it off!
I'm afraid, if I shut it off, it won't start.
Lady, if you don't shut it off, it will NEVER start.

    True story.
