Yeah that's the plan. The only time its been in the shop in the 6.5 years I've had it is for recall stuff. I've done all the other maintenance myself (brakes, wheel bearings, suspension work, rebuild driveshaft, valve cover gaskets, belt etc)

Nice! I've been trying to learn how to work on mine, but all I've done thus far is install the front UCA's and coilovers and air bags on the back. I feel like front brakes wouldn't be too bad though. ill more than likely try to tackle that here in a few months

Overall this is an easy vehicle to work on. Sometimes you just gotta dive right in and do it!

Very true! I've found that if you take on the "failure is not an option" attitude, you can pretty much do whatever you want on these trucks. Like you said, pretty simple vehicle to learn how to work on from what I've found

    Hey bud,

I have the Dakars and i wish i would have went with All-Pro. In my opinion, Dakars are meant to be used for very heavy loads. I don't carry enough weight in the back (I have a 140 lbs steel rear bumper, aluminum skid plates, sliders, and a steel bed rack) so that may be the issue. The problem that i have with the dakars is that they do not offer much up-travel before hitting the very-stiff overload springs.

Albeit, i did remove the 3rd leaf to lower the heavy spring rate and then i removed the larger overload spring to attempt to give me more up-travel; so i may have caused my own demise.

When my wife give me my allowance, i'm going to go with an All-Pro Standard Pack and possibly a shackle flip kit for even greater down-travel.

Thanks for the heads up man! Do you have the Heavy duty dakars or the light dutys? I think the Heavy duty EL096 is the same as the older CS047.. I was thinking about the light duty EL095R's.. I'm all ears though for hearing what you think would work best.. I'm carrying a 500lb constant load and would like about 1.5 inches of lift. Apparently the light duty dakars provide 2.75 inches of lift without any load in the back of the truck so I've been curious if the 500lbs I carry would be enough to bring them down to the 1.5 inch mark..

Which all pro's are you going with? or do they only make one pack?

So you got me doing research. I have the EL095R's and according to the OME Tech, I wasn't supposed to remove the 3rd leaf because i got the soft leaf pack. :annoyed:

But anyways, on an unmodified EL095R leaf pack, the primary leaves have a spring rate of 149 lbs/in and when the overload springs are engaged the rate goes up to 482 lbs/in. So assuming the spring deflection is greater than 2" before it makes contact with the overload, and with 500 lbs of weight, you're looking at deflecting 1.67 inches.

Thanks for all the info, i wasnt aware of the spring rates, but thats good stuff to know. When you say deflecting, do you mean thats how much they will sag/travel downwards?

I may be wrong on this but I thought the Dakar’s regardless of regular or hd both provided the same amount of lift, but one holds more weight.

My order for the all pros is complete but have not received a shipping date, more to follow.:D

I believe you are correct sir. Both state 2.75 inches of lift but the heavy dutys say that they provide that much lift with 660lbs constant load (per wheeler’s website)
The light dutys are 2.75 without any constant load

Yeah, they will sag that much. So 2.75" - 1.67" = So the dakars will get you 1.08" inches of lift with 500 lbs of extra weight in the rear.

Uuuu, let me know how the All-Pro's treat ya.
