Yep. The whole upper frame (both fixed and lifting portions) has T-Nut slots running the entire length, so mounting an awning on the back is totally possible.

So post up pix of the coverings so I can get an idea of whether I could use it semi-permanently as my dry doghouse and I'll give you a deposit. :) I was going to get an RTT but much prefer something built into the canopy. I can do away with the rack on the cab and this will do everything I need - I think.

PS: I also like the weight.

Been thinking about the possible set ups for your camper, particularly with the hardside version. Would it be possible to set up an old fashion carpet kit in the bed, providing seating and storage space? I'm not sure I understand how the back of the camper will open on the hardside version. Will probably need to see pics or video of it when you have one completed to fully understand it.

I'm also wondering what sleeping in it will be like in a hot and humid environment, particularly during the summer months here in the Southeast.

The backside opens just like a regular topper, with a flip-up hatch/window. And yes, a carpet kit would work. We have a lightweight bed platform with a storage drawer and flip up access in the works. With the front side windows and the rear door zipped open (but with mesh closed) it gets a lot of cross flow. We'll have a fan option at some point as well. The roof panel is insulated, so it'll be better than a tent.

Hey, one more quick question ... what is the height from the bottom of the rack (i.e. the top of the bedsides or tailgate) to the bottom of the rear crossbar? In other words, vertical loading clearance. I'll add in the actual bed height since 2nd and 3rd gen are different. Thanks.

@wileydavis Are you going to have distributors or is this going to be a pick-up in person or ship direct only? I ask because if you are looking for distributors I wanted to pass your info on to a shop here who is a distributor for other overlanding product companies in the SE. I'd love for them to carry this so people over here can see it in person.

22" for the 3rd gen. For the 2nd gen there may be differences in the lower frame shape. Once we have the lower details worked out for the 3rd gen we'll apply those to the other supported truck models.

On a progress note, we got the tubes laser cut for the lower frame yesterday, so will have some update photos this weekend.

For the first production run we won't have dealers. But the plan is to eventually have them, so we'd be interested in talking with the shop.

Welded up a couple of Tacoma long bed lower frames today. Unlike the square tube on the test mule, these are 1.5" round DOM tubing and made to the final design specs. We'll be skinning these in bead-rolled .090" aluminum this coming week.

Can't wait to see it finished. I'm already scheming about how to put a window on the side panel...
