Take it to a couple dealers and see what they will give you for it. Then you'll at least have a minimum.

The Toyota dealership gave me 1.5k less than I paid new after 1.5 years and 20k miles. But I bought out of state and was selling a 4x4 in a high demand area (SoCal).

A quick and dirty formula is take 10% off for each year of ownership.

For example if your car was $40k and you've had it for 2 years, then:

    10% of $40k = $36k for year 1

    10% of $36k = $32,400.00 for year 2

Exactly, used costs damn near the same as new so why not buy new. I did the same.

Me too. Plus cheap loans are easier to get on new rather than used cars.

There's obviously a market for slightly used trucks, which is why the prices are high as they are. So someone's paying that, somewhere. I also bought new for that reason, but obviously, someone values that extra $2k savings over a brand new vehicle.

    Get a Tacoma with a 6MT. Or a Tundra.

Well fine, Lol. Throw the sport on auto trader for 33,500$ see what happens. The worst someone is going to do is pass it up.

many, if not most, used vehicles on a new car lot are not trade ins. They were purchased at auction (or other methods) for the express purpose of getting used car inventory levels that they require. So, the fact that some may see a lot of used Tacomas on the used lot may mean nothing more than that dealer knows he won't have problems selling a Tacoma so he/she actively looks to carry as many as possible. And new dearlers are not looking at stocking their used inventory with old vehicles (i.e. 2nd Gen Tacos), most vehicles on the used lot at a new car dealer will be less than 3 years old.
