Hey @BYJOSHCOOK what color seat covers did you end up getting?

 

Black and cobalt blue. I was gonna go charcoal but since my interior is blue I didn't think it'd look as good. HBU?

 

I’m probably going to get charcoal with black full piping.

@allmotorrex and/or anyone else with clutch replacement experience.

Starting to do some clutch research and looking at Marlin clutch kits. They come with:

• pressure plate
• clutch disc
• release bearing (same as throwout I'm assuming?)
  
• pilot bearing
• alignment tool.

Their flywheels are 23lbs. Is that a appropriate weight? Is this all I'm likely to need for the clutch replacement?

Yeah that's all you need. Are you getting a new flywheel? My suggestion is find out what the stock one weighs and if the marlin one is much lighter, go OEM. That heavy flywheel mass will help keep your rpms up while shifting, especially relevant off-road.

 

Afraid I'm going to be doing this before too much longer as well. Not even as snappy on clutch engagement as it was after LBL '17

Yeah I'll probably get a flywheel too. It's got 225k on it so without having looked at it I'm guessing it couldn't hurt to replace.

Also guessing that the Marlin flywheel is heavier than OEM due their marketing towards offroad use. Haven't looked OEM up yet though

 

I found 26.5, 25.65, and 24.6 on Autozone's site. Those are for a 2.7 in 2nd gens, though.

At least the weights are uniform

Yeah it's pretty sweet. AWD too which really helps out crawling over the speedbumps at Starbucks.

 

I could probably swap my clutch out in 4 hrs. That's with hand tools and floor jacks. It's no more then an 8 hr job even if it's your first time doing a clutch ever. I wouldn't consider it hard work, just a little involved. For me, lining the trans shaft back up is always the hardest part. Haha it's so annoying. I'll try for 20 mins to get it lined up, stop for a min because I'm mad and want to give up then I start again and it goes in first time no problem. It seems like it happens to me every time. Haha

 

So whenever I need to replace my clutch I'll bring parts, food and beer and we can get it done at your place then?

 

On the topic of coffee....I discovered this weekend at AOP that my Keurig won't work plugged into my truck bed plug...bummer.

Lining up a FWD is worse. I was a pro at it for a while though. So frustrating.

yeah it sucks. Trans jack, floor jack, belly jack .... they all suck. Hell in the Supra it's easier to pull the motor and trans then just the trans. We call pull the motor in 30 mins and work on the trans outside the car.
