Boat motor carb. Ethanol laced fuel damage.

 

Nah. Just wanted to get a pic of what ethanol does to the rubber components of an outboard motor carb.

This is the primer plunger and diaphragm. The shit in the bottom is the delaminated rubber from the diaphragm.

Get a good bore for the tubes. Polish them and increase efficiency. You will be rewarded with a very nice, blue flame.

This is what it looks like now. Would I just polish the tube that feeds the pilot? It's a old heater. I'm not even sure the temp control works.

 

I know the silver tube feeds the gas. Looks like the vertical copper rod is a temp sensor? What's the copper wire for? It's not electric.

 

The copper line is for verification of the pilot light. If the pilot light goes out, the gas valve will not open and send gas to the main burner(s).

That flame looks pretty good. If you are not comfortable taking apart the burner tube, just leave it. vacuum as much dust out of the thing as you can.

 

If it was my house, I'd be ok doing it. For an apartment, I'm not going to take it apart.

The first year I used it, it seemed like it shut off at a certain temp. Last year, my apartment would be 90°, and the heater would stay on.
