Hello all, glad to now be a member. I love my Taco. Except for the current problems with the cigarette light and the accessory power outlets not working. I posted in 2nd Gen Tacos Forum if you would like to read more about it.
I have changed fuses every time one blew. First the outlet on the right went out permanently, now the one on the left is out permanently. Fuses are good. I pulled the one on the left, which I assume was the cigarette light out and the outlet does not read continuity through it on the center prong. I'm trying to locate an exact fit for it to replace it.
    And the power outlet.
Or, I'm thinking of installing a generic outlet in each that has a 10 or 15 foot cable to go straight to the battery and fuse each at 20 amps within a few inches of the battery.
Is this a good idea or not?
    I'd appreciate any ideas.

On the back of the cigarette outlet is a tiny L that serves as a thermal fuse, I saw these blown all the time from people trying to pull high amp draw through those tiny wires. (12v potable Air compressors usually)

I would recomend seeing if you can replace just the socket, or evan just that L fuse link from a junkyard car. Any toyota 90 or newer should work.

As for running the wires that's also a good idea cause then you can have a constant hot outlet. I'd run a 7.5 fuse or less though the socket is very inefficient and that will be your week link regardless of wire gauge.

    Edit:

Also welcome aboard, bend over and surrender your wallet. TW will take care of the rest.
