Throwing this out to gauge the interest?

Doing some preliminary research/planning for another trip out west next year. Thinking about the May/June/July timeframe, likely another 9 day trip, 2 days out, 5 days of wheelin/camping, 2 days back. I’ve been thinking about the MOAB, Arches, Canyonlands, Tellurude areas.

Would love to get a group together. There’s plenty of time to put in days off from work, get rigs ready, and convince better halves?

On my first gen I used the Marlin kit and bought a stock flywheel from the parts store for my 3.4. I also bought a big red trans jack, not that piece of shit jack adapter, an actual trans jack. Love that thing! Made the swap a breeze and I use that fucker all the time for various tasks around the garage, hell I had my welder ratchet strapped to it for a while serving as my adjustable welding cart.

In the world of real life...

Had this go around with the gas company. Basically, we have a gas leak and they won't turn the gas on. And of course, 80% of my basement is finished. Gas line comes in above and behind a framed in wall in a basement room we use to throw all the kid toys in.

When we moved in I told Rach that I'd like to tear that room out and go back to just plain block wall. Being an electrican, I am not a huge fan of shit in the way, and a finished basement is nothing but in the way, of anything, if anything (such as a gas leak) were to happen and need repaired. I also live on/at the bottom of a good hill and rain and water is a concern, the run off comes right at the house. Walked into plenty of homes where some basement company had all the walls torn out for moisture issues. Once again, I do not like finished basements. Keep it block wall and open joists.

Started taking the drywall down yesterday. Got all the drywall removed that was framed up in front of the block walls.

I do have a unfinished area already. Where the laundry is and I keep my tools. Going to open the basement up and make that whole area unfinished, when I'm done, half my basement will be finished, half not. Nice little gig for the cold weather. Hopefully proves a bit easier than a bathroom I once knew.

The floor ones are actually really awesome. They make 4 foot ones that then telescope up via hydraulic foot pedal, those get a bit sketchy again. Several hundred pound trans tilting back n forth 6 foot off the ground, always made me nervous as hell.

One ford truck you have to angle the friggin trans almost 45 degrees to get it out. Super sketchy.

They also make "Ford trans jack adapters" because of that little hump on bottom of their pans. Pan won't sit on a flat tranny jack top.

I did swap it, might as well while everything's out.

My trucks been leaking oil out of the bell housings since AOP, I hope that seal didn't let loose on me.

But if it's gone this long without leaking why mess with it now? I've read both arguments and both seem reasonable. Not sure what I'll ultimately do though.

The guy welding in the pic used to do a lot of rock crawling/ racing. He has a whole garage full of tools to notch and bend pipe. We were going for a bumper that is strong a hell and look completely different from anything that is on the market.

The transfer case that I pulled yesterday is toast. The reason I got my jeep so cheap. New transfer case is getting overhauled and a yoke eliminator kit put in. I know Toyota forum but my parts runnning truck is my Yoda.

It's on the "to do" list. Just have got around to typing it out yet. Btw, how come you have you profile limited? I'd love to get on your build thread for ideas.
