I used a pick tool and wedged it in between the hose and the nipple. Then sprayed some WD40 at it. Then wiggled it back and fourth till the hose came off. The little brass thing stayed in the nipple. I used a pick tool to pry it out.

I probably tried for an hour on and off. The jet was siezed in my hose. Which wouldnt allow the hose to come off

The bypass valve nipple is plastic. Don't get too medieval on it. Potentially could break off and that would suck.:pout:

My man you are making this way more complicated than it needs to be.

    - Twist hose to break bond from nipple.
    - Remove hose
    - Take needlenose pliers
    - With a twisting motion, methodically turn jet until it comes loose
    - If necessary use a long flat tip screwdriver after bond is broken between jet and vacuum port to finish removing it
    - Remove jet
    - Replace with smaller or clamp hose
    - Done

I feel your pain. I could twist the hose but it wouldnt come off. Eventually got it with some big pliers. For the jet I leaned over from the passenger side and pried it up with a small screw driver then used pliers to grab thr jet. Good luck

I couldn’t get it with my needle nose. I actually used a smaller cheap pair of pliers. Once (it took me many try’s) I got them on the jet, it pulled right out.

And then this evening when I was driving around I did decide that I needed to stop driving like a hellion or I was going to get a ticket. Traction control off...

Oh yeah, I sleep with it!

I look forward to the day where a woman busts my nuts over not understanding something that I am doing all the while I appear to everyone else like a jackass. :)

I haven't stopped since I did the mods. Recently I mean. Forget traction control. Engage 4x4... straight away demon truck from hell.

Wait til I get my 2.3 pulley, that shipped out today. ;)

For any 1st gen guys who find themselves wandering around in this thread, the restrictor jet is the same on the 3.4L SC - and a whole lot easier to get to. About to go try this out.

Welp it's raining cats and dogs here, so I can verify that my back end spins out all over the place lol, nothing new there. It does seem like throttle response is a little quicker, and it hit 7.5 psi at WOT with stock pulley but I wasn't able to hold it wide open to see if it stayed there.

    More testing to follow.

Good luck. Make sure you get that white ring back on tight with the gasket seated properly.

Some one I know didn’t do that stuff properly and had leaks :anonymous:
