    Hello,

190,000 on my taco but now experiencing smoke coming from exhaust Manifolds after the engine warms up. My valve cover gaskets have been leaking for a long time 40-50k miles but just torqued bolts to spec and kept driving daily. Could this just be a result of the valve cover gaskets and that will fix the problem? But I'm starting to think with this smoke coming from both side exhaust manifolds has the engine been damaged to the point changing the gaskets won't make a difference. All input appreciated.
    Thank you.

I will take pics when the sun comes out..

Really common for valve covers to leak on V6. Never heard of actual damaged caused by oil leaking onto manifolds. Although I would recommend you do asap if that bad.
If never done before they can be a pain but nothing horrible. Just make sure to replace upper intake gasket also as you will have to remove anyway and torque to specs. Also don't forget to remove half moons on heads when covers off and reseal. And replace spark plug tube seals

    Thanks for response Joe,

Definitely way overdue for that job, oil burnt a good spot on the manifold but cleaned up nice with a wire brush bit but still smoking out of the exhaust manifold on both sides. Could this just be it burning the oil residue on them? Or the oil vapor still seeping out of the valve cover? Truck still stays good temp(Half ping) idling but just don't want to drive it this way.

It's most likely smoke from oil dripping from the valve covers. If it was coming from the cylinders you would see it out the exhaust. Completly clean the motor and look to find the leak and repair as needed.

If valve covers not leaking anymore it may take a while for access oil to burn off.

Exhaust out of the tale pipe seems normal. Hoping it is just the residual oil boiling out I'll just keep on truckin. Will come back with what happens. Thanks
