Hey everyone! In the market for a new vehicle and have been stalking this forum for a few months now trying to get a feel for the Tacoma. I stumbled upon a 2016 double cab 4x4 Sport with tech package and bed hard cover. 25k miles but visually looks great and drives well. Dealer is asking for 32,190. Would it be worth it to or would a new 2017 SR5 4x4 be a better option?

Not sure if this kind of post is appropriate but do let me know and i'll remove. Just trying to get an idea from you guys who have experience.

    Thanks!!!!

No way I'd pay that for a used one when a new one is just a few grand more.

Scrimp and save just a little longer and get exactly what you want.

    Buying new is better because:

    1. You minimize the chance of inheriting hidden problems.

    2. You don't know how a used car was treated.

    3. A used car may not have much warranty left. Also new cars have Toyota Care.

    4. Loans for a new car are easier and cheaper to get into.

    5. A used Taco may have been modified in not the best way.

Do you need to know, or care?
    Agreed. I'd buy new.

Buy new and get 0 or .9 APR financed by Toyota.

The lower apr compared to the higher apr of a used Toyota means prices will be pretty much the same.

Just went through the same dilemma a few weeks ago and decided on new financed through Toyota.

    my build tread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/socal-no-shame-poser-build.513084/
I went from shopping for used to new and it only changed my payment 20$ a month. Got it with 8 miles on it instead of 23’000 miles on it which for me is almost 2 years of driving. So new was worth it for me. I would not buy used woth over 25k miles so if u like it then get it but my vote is new 2017 at end of month for best deal

Got a used with 9k miles in August that had the capper on it i wanted and had the premium and tech for 3k less then a new one. When i added in the cost of getting a 2k topper on top it was a no brainer to go used plus it was Toyota certified. Just make the right decision for yourself.

Thank you everyone for you input!! Looks like majority wins. Currently building the specs online to send out to dealers for quotes. Been searching through these forums for best practice with negotiations as this is my first new car purchase.

    Appreciate every one's help!

That’s assuming you have excellent m credit and can pay it off in 48 months for the 0% or 60 months for the 0.9%

No problem! Hope your credit works out with Toyota's requirements and remember to play with the numbers and do every single calculation at home before you even get to the dealer so you have a good clear idea of the numbers you want to get and make it clear to the salesmen.

A good way to know the lowest you can get the vehicle for, is by looking at their internet ad on the dealers website. If you enter a fake email and phone # it will give you their lowest price(usually 2k below msrp) I was able to negotiate an extra 1k off that price for example so good luck!
