How long should one wait to go to Jiffy Lube with a new car of a new generation model?

I was wondering how long it takes for places like Jiffy Lube or Mobil 1 to become knowledgeable/competent in knowing how to service a third generation Tacoma?

I know it probably wouldn't be a good idea at all to take a brand new car to these quick lube type if places, but I'm wondering when these places could be expected to know how to do new model/new generation vehicles.

If this has been asked already let me know (my search parameters might have been not good).

It's been said already but it's worth saying again.

NEVER take your car to Jiffy Lube.

 

In the last month my shop has replaced an engine in a Colorado and a rear diff in a Silverado thanks to Quicky lube joints. So never would be my answer.

 

The thought of me doing it scares the hell out of myself though...

 

When to take your car to jiffy lube? When hell freezes over.

Nope not even then.

 

Just go to the dealer and look for a coupon or an independent shop. The last dealer oil change I had was about $40 and they even rotated my tires and washed my truck.

 

I see a pattern here LOL!

 

It scares the hell out of you to change your own oil....?.....

 

That sounds like a good plan. I was plotting my strategy after my Toyota Care runs out.

 

I've personally worked on three cars where the drain plug was stripped thanks to the monkeys at Jiffy Lube.

 

Yeah... like I might screw something up. Maybe I'm overthinking it a bit.

 

never, even goodyear stripped the drain plug and CROSS THREADED it on my GF's truck. I change my own oil and hers now too.

if you have to use a shop find one that isnt a chain store at least.

 

I’d rather touch my ding dong with sand paper than bring any of my vehicles to a jiffy lube.

 

I let the dealer do mine!
