I bought this truck in April of '17. It was a 1 owner totally stock 2000 SR5 2.7, 5 speed, ex-cab with pw, pl, cc with 289K miles. Clean carfax and shows dealer serviced(owner's wife works at Toyota dealer). Paid $6500 and promptly sold the topper for $450. A lot of cash for high miles but truck history and cleanliness made it worth it to me.

Here's pics the seller sent me right before I drove to TN to look at it(April '17).

Yeah, the guy had seat covers on for years and floor mats on top of the stock floor mats.

I haven't kept up with much that I've done. No big mods to mention though. I've been wanting to get rid of the chrome on the front end for a while now. OEM grill was cracked so I took a chance on the Rockauto aftermarket black grill. Looks pretty good and fits good too(I'm picky too). I'm color matching the surround. I've sanded all surfaces to be painted with 600 grit (no pics), then cleaned with prep wipe, then primed with 4 coats of auto primer.

Here it is ready for paint:

Color matched surround done. I still have to paint the black. Thought about bedliner or flat paint with clear over it. I also sanded the Toyota emblem with 600 grit to give it a brushed look. I may blacken it instead.20171224_192946.jpg

Thanks. It was mixed at Oreilly's. I painted a sample and it looks really close. Won't know until I bolt the grill up. I used Duplicator clear coat. I hope the process I used holds up.

I removed bumper for the first time(like folks have said, not really that big of a deal). I'm going to paint the chrome pieces SFR and also wanting a long term solution to keeping it looking nice. I also finished up the grill this morning. I still plan to wet sand it two remove a bit of orange peal. But I think it came out real nice. Color is pretty close but does look a little bit lighter.

Now I have to decide on dye, paint or bed liner for bumper.

All back together. I ended up using adhesion promotor and Rustolium bed liner on the bumper and then once it dried, I lightly sanded it with 400 to get rid of the sand paper feel that I thought would be hard to clean. Then wiped it down with silicone spray. Came out exactly how I wanted and should be easy to keep clean. If the grill and metal inserts don't hold up, I may do the same bedliner treatment on them. But for now I like a little color on the front end. Not sure if I like the color on the bumper inserts or black like the rest of the bumper. Toyota emblem is Plasidip.

Hell yea, looks good! You should look into some black headlight and corner housings.

I really do like that look but I don't want to loose any light output and I don't want to spend $600 on retros.

The black headlight housings don’t loose any more output since the reflector bowl is still chrome. The corners are all black though.

That's good to hear. I've just read quite a few times that the output will not be as good as the OEM housings. I'll look into the black headlight housings though.

Well yes this is true, the aftermarket housings tend to scatter light more than OEM.

I recently replaced the dash lights with regular bulbs and and I already have a bulb not working. I'd really like white dash and A/C lights so I have ordered these bulbs. I know folks speak really well about superbriteleds but I thought I would give these a try. I don't like my dash light really bright anyway because it makes it harder to see the road at night. I ordered 194, 74 and DE3175(for dome). I'd like to do the maplights but not sure which bulbs work correctly.

    194 https://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-Super-...ight-Dome-Bulb-194-168-2825-W5W-/263399584953

    74 https://www.ebay.com/itm/10X-White-...auge-LED-Wedge-Side-Light-Bulbs-/252047537354
