    November 10th, 2017:

The owners of the bar where I work have an older (like 10-year old) male Black Labrador, and they're out of town. I was tasked with picking up the dog from their home and driving him to the home of their friend (a breeder of Labradors) out in the country (Plumstead Township, specifically). It BITTERLY cold on this particular Friday, but the fall scenery was absolutely beautiful. I took a few still shots with my dashcam on the way back to town...

Driving through the small village of Carversville. On the right you see large house; the owner of this house let me film his central A/C once, like 5-6 years ago; The A/C unit I filmed was a 1990s Ducane; It has since been replaced with a newer NORDYNE unit:

An after-drinking story that just happened today...

My friend's dad's band played at the bar where I work. My friend was acting as DD, but me and my friend's wife got hammered.

Actually, I just got drunk. She got hammered, so much so that my friend says she puked like 5 times on the drive home. I had well over half a dozen beers and 3 or 4 shots and only got a slight hangover.

So yeah, I had a bit of a hangover, and I also felt a bit off-kilter this morning, but I was sober. I got in the Tacoma and drove to work.

Not 5 minutes after leaving home, I almost totaled my Taco. At the very least, even if it was repairable, my truck probably would have had to be towed. The bumper would have been gone, my HomerTaco grill probably would have been destroyed, both headlights probably would have had damage, the hood may have been bent, and there was a high potential for radiator and A/C condenser damage at the speed I was going. The driver's airbag may have even deployed...

I had a green light, and I thought this black Audi TT was about to make a left turn into the shopping center on my right, which would have meant I would T-bone them. An Audi TT would have been no match for a Tacoma doing about 50 MPH. Out of reflex, my hand went to the horn but I didn't beep.

I was so focused on the Audi that I not realize traffic in front of me had come to a complete stop. I saw brake lights and slammed on the brake pedal. I realized that this wasn't going to be enough, so at the last possible second, I turned the wheel hard to the right. I swerved into the right lane and missed the SUV in front of me by mere inches!

Also, the line for this traffic light was so long that traffic was backed up into the preceding intersection, and nobody was in the right lane.

    I call that last-second turn a one-in-a-million move...

I just showed her your post. She says hello.

I know Patrick just bought a new 3rd gen, but I didn't know he had a brother.

His 3rd Gen was the reason that I bought mine, liked it immediately. Just after that another of our friends bought a Sport in MGM and added the 4Runner TRD wheels, damn nice truck.

Pretty sure I snapped a photo of Pat's truck the other day.

The owner of M.O.M.'s has a black 5th gen 4Runner. Don't know if you've seen it...

I've recently developed an interest in the content of this blog.

As such, I decided to get some photos of the local "dead retail" in my area...

This is a former Sears on Route 611 in Doylestown Township. I think it must have closed while I was on vacation in California, because I didn't notice that it had closed until yesterday when I drove past it on my way to work...

    DASHCAM PHOTOS:

    IPHONE PHOTOS:

I never had any complaints about this Sears. Both me and my dad shopped here from time to time. I ran a lot of errands for work here, and I always found the staff to courteous and professional.

This girl I went to high school with worked here in like 2006-2008ish, in the appliance department. She got an hourly wage, but most of the money she made came from commission. She got a percentage of every refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer she sold.

This particular Sears sold a particular model of Amana refrigerator, and Amana issued a massive recall on this hot-selling model. As a result, Sears had to take all of these refrigerators back and apparently lost a lot of money. To gain some of their losses back, they started taking the commissions each employee made out of their paychecks. The girl I knew quit before this could officially go into effect...

Brian (owner of MoMs) has a great 4Runner, very nice TRD Pro. Yes, both FJs are in the family. The Heritage Blue is still with us but the Quicksand (my oldest son’s truck) got traded for a Subaru WRX 3 months ago. While It wasn’t my choice to do it, must say that the WRX is awesome!

This is a former K-Mart on York Road in Warminster. It closed sometime in 2013 and the building has been vacant ever since. When I decorated my Tacoma with Christmas lights in December 2012, I went to this K-Mart and got a hell of a deal on some Christmas lights as part of a massive "Going out of business" sale...

    DASHCAM PHOTOS:

Yes, that is an International Scout II to the right of my truck. I took pictures of it too, which can be seen in the next post...
    20171112_0044_CAM1_IMG.jpg

Most of those five businesses held on for quite a while after the K-Mart closed, and I was shocked to see them all boarded up; The last time I drove past this place sometime in the summer, I'm pretty sure at least some of them were still open...
    20171112_0045_CAM1_IMG.jpg

    IPHONE PHOTOS:

See that black Volkswagen? There were three people in that car, and they had been at the Dunkin' Donuts right next to this building. They found me to be suspicious, and kinda stalked me for the rest of the time I was there. They left the Dunkin Donuts and drove around the entire building, then reappeared. They did this 3 or 4 times, and at one point the guy in the shotgun seat took a picture of me with his phone, while I was in my Tacoma taking a picture. I vowed that if any of them did that again, I'd flip them the bird. hey continued shadowing me until I left...
    IMG_1233.jpg IMG_1234.jpg IMG_1235.jpg IMG_1240.jpg IMG_1245.jpg IMG_1246.jpg

Right after the front seat passenger took a picture of me (you can see the back of the VW on the right side of the photo)...
    IMG_1247.jpg IMG_1248.jpg IMG_1249.jpg

There's the sketchy black VW again...
    IMG_1250.jpg

Even though this repair shop was attached to the K-Mart, it seemed to have been an independently-owned business (Perhaps it was a K-Mart auto center at one time?). It closed when the K-Mart closed (I think they just moved and did not actually go out of business)...
    IMG_1251.jpg
You can see the black VW over by the abandoned Scout...
    IMG_1252.jpg
    IMG_1253.jpg
    Driving back in my direction...
    IMG_1254.jpg
This is the last photo I took on this property, and I'm a bit annoyed because I wanted to get some pictures behind the K-Mart too...

However, I did not know if this vigilante had called the cops. Even worse, the could have decided to confront me directly instead of calling the cops. As a hobby photographer, one of my biggest annoyances in life is this post-9/11 "If you see something, say something" mentality...

Seriously, I was only taking pictures for fun! Take a look at what I'm driving! A mildly customized silver Toyota pickup with two American flags on the back, for crying out loud! If I was planning a crime of some sort, don't you think I'd be a bit more discreet about it?!?!

I cannot believe that someone would abandon this sweet truck! Obviously it hasn't been driven in some time and needs some work, but it appeared to be largely complete and is could probably be up and running with a few months of work...

    IMG_1245.jpg

It's got a flat tire, and some surface rust, but the body seemed quite solid. I don't know what's up with all the stuff in the window...
    IMG_1229.jpg

You will notice that this Scout does not have an inspection sticker, but this didn't strike me as odd because it's old enough to be registered as an antique in Pennsylvania (thus exempting it from inspection). However, when took pictures from the back, I discovered that it did not have a license plate...
    IMG_1230.jpg IMG_1231.jpg IMG_1232.jpg

    See, no license plate...
    IMG_1236.jpg IMG_1237.jpg IMG_1238.jpg IMG_1239.jpg IMG_1241.jpg

The doors were unlocked, so I took a peek inside. The interior is actually not in bad shape and appears to be largely complete. It even has factory A/C! You might notice that the gear selector seems to be in Drive.
    IMG_1242.jpg

The interior was dirty and worn, but the only piece that seemed to be missing was the driver's window crank...

The third stop was the 263 Marketplace in Warminster, not that far down the road from the K-Mart. It was named the 263 Marketplace because it is located on Route 263, better known as York Road.

In October or November of 2012, my best friend's band got a gig here. It was a "trial run" and the band was not paid, but the deal was if they liked the performance, it would become a regular paid gig. Not even a month later, the place closed. My friend and his bandmates were not very happy...

And the last stop before heading home...

    Gander Mountain!

Less than two years ago, this was just a vacant gravel lot. They built this brand new building, and less than a year later, the place went out of business!
