Just bought a new '17 tacoma, and looking to get a hard, folding cover for the bed. Right now I'm leaning towards the Backflip G2 cover. Just wondering if anyone can share their experiences with that cover.

Have you considered getting an OEM one?

I bought the BakFlip fibermax, loved it, stronger if you are putting weight on top of it. Only down side was the rails were made like crap. First set, driver side was bent bracket and passenger side - seems like they did not deburr the holes and the support bracket was off angle. They sent two more sets, now the driver's side was good but the same issue on the passenger side, and that support was bent in addition. Gave up, drilled out the pop rivets, cleaned the burrs, used the bracket from the first set, all was good. Got to be an expert at mounting and mounting it, aligns easily, very water proof.

Hated to sell it but ended up needing more room for camping stuff, the Tacoma's bed is not very deep. Oh, attached to the rails so use loose the tie downs, I made a small slider, treaded it and put in an eye bolt, worked well as a replacement.

I have looked into that a bit, but I read somewhere that this cover requires you to cut into your bed rails, which I would try to avoid.

Check out the undercover Flex Tonneau. It looks the same as a backflip. And it's cheaper

This that and the other thing.
got the fibermax, no major complaints, works great and didn't run into any issues. no major water gets in, a little depending on the angle I'm parked and the direction of the wind. I didn't install it myself. the only thing I was a little disappointed with was the fact it didn't come with straps to secure the final fold without standing it up on end like it said it would in the catalog but there was at least some d rings for me to throw a rubber bungee on if need be.

So I bought the Bakflip G2 tonneau cover brand new from this seller on eBay
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bakflip-G2...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
I mention this, bc it was $120 less (shipped) than other sites like autoanything.com and bakflip.com. Shipping was fast, I ordered on a Friday and got it by Tuesday.

I just installed the Bakflip G2 tonneau cover a wk ago. Installation was straightforward, no issues. It looks good.... but I washed my truck today with a pressure washer and noticed some leakage in the truck bed even with the drainage tubes provided. Nothing major, others on TW have the same issue with this model. I live in SoCal, so it should be okay for me.
