I have the JBA catback (p/n #40-9016) on mine, about ~1500 miles on it now. I like it. It was a bit 'tinny' at first, but after a week or so of driving it settled in nicely. Slightly louder than stock at idle, noticeable but mild while cruising, and at WOT the sound is damn good. No real drone to speak of, but then again my tires are loud so take that with a grain of salt lol.

Picked it up from AutoAnything for $300 shipped. 2.5", stainless, mandrel bent. Hard deal to beat for a complete kit, took about 30 minutes to install.

I have a Banks cat back system
Easy bolt on - quiet at start up decent sound when u give it throttle
I would like a little more sound but think it will get better with age
Had the same set up on my 05 and it was a little louder, i use to get a lot of compliments on it
Not sure if its the same muffler on new system

If u take off your exhaust i would raise the rear side where the exhaust is and try to support it when u remove so it dose not hit any of the brake lines or sensor wires. Then slide it out toward front of truck
Taking off the hanger grommets can be a hassle, i bought the removal tool worked great
Banks has some descent sales if you check their site

I have a Magnaflow catback system....Easy install, but be sure to lube up the 2 bolts well in advance of the install..... It came with a resonator and a muffler and at 2k rpm it sounds its best.... also sounds throaty at initial start up... overall I think it sounds pretty good, it does cause a resonating sound in the cab. I have purchased RAAMat but have yet to install, hoping that takes care of the resonating.

But don't kid yourself, it will never sound as good as a v8.

My bro in law has a 4 cyl Taco with the Magnaflow offroad version where the tail pipe dumps right after the muffler..... I think his sounds better than mine....

Can't comment on a straight pipe exactly but I'm running a Blackwidow straight-through muffler and even at 4krpm it sounds pretty good. Definitely not a V8 but far from awful. 2500rpm is the sweet spot.

Personally, I've tried Dynomax Ultraflos, Magnaflow, and a TRD catback. The TRD sounded the best, but I ended up going back to the OEM muffler. These motors just don't sound right with an aftermarket muffler.

I have the TRD catback, and have been pretty happy with it. Definitely not the cheapest option, but is louder than stock, though not enough to be obnoxious. It's louder when you get on it, but at most cruising speeds is barely noticable. It's nice that it just bolts on as well. Maybe a 20-30 minute install for someone that hasn't done it before.

I wish someone with this muffler lived near me so I can hear it in person! I had a TRD exhaust on my FJ and loved it, just wish it was a littler louder. I had my mind set on a Flowmaster Deltaflow 50 but your truck sounds great in the video. Any drone? How loud is it cruising down the interstate with the windows up?

Yah, I dont see how a phone can recreate the sound of an exhaust to the point of steering me towards one muffler or another, but I do like my Jones muffler. At idle or cruising around town its pretty quiet until you put your foot in it then it wakes up with a roar.

It can't. I've heard a ton and none of them sound the same in person.

A great reason to go to a local meet.

Anything 2.5" single in/out unless you're rebuilding the muffler-back totally custom

You don't need the notch. Center/center is fine and will probably be a bit louder. A muffler shop will likely need to make some custom adjustments to things but you'll be fine.

It is the perfect blend of volume and growl. No drone on the highway at all, some drone on deceleration or down shifting (I drive a manual) and I only notice this with the windows down during city driving. Highway volume is perfect, quiet really.

Bass notes are too prevalent and it sounds louder than it is, if that's the case. It's overwhelming your microphone.

Here's a blackwidow if anyone is curious.

Huh? None of that is true in person. I have worked in audio for years and can assure you it's fine:)
