Does anyone know if you can take long travel off a 2nd gen Tacoma that's 2wd and put it on another 2nd gen that's 4wd? Just add axle shafts and stuff like that and be good to go or am I way off?

Depends on the kit. I know some of them have different lowers etc to make clearance for the axle shaft / CV But a quick call to the manufacture of the kit should have your answer.
