You can’t void your warranty by installing aftermarket parts. You can be denied by Toyota for a claim if it is related to aftermarket parts.

And in no time someone will come in quoting the Magnuson moss act....

I called my dealer and asked the guys that worked with the vehicles and they said that adding a lift kit will void my warranty

Only on components affected by the suspension change. The whole warranty doesn’t go away just because you change a few parts.

    Check The Build Thread
Warranty isn’t voided but like mentioned earlier, a claim can be denied if they can relate the failure to the lift. I’ve had CVs, wheel bearings, etc. changed/repaired under warranty without issue with my truck in its current state.

I only deal with the one service writer because he has a personal policy of not volunteering information but he won’t lie if asked (e.g. if asked if my truck is lifted, he won’t say no, but he also will not volunteer the information). It’s not his place to approve or deny warranty work so he just submits everything. Also I only deal with one specific mechanic there that has worked on various Toyota’s I’ve owned...it has gotten to the point where if he says something needs done, I don’t question it as he’s built that trust in him.

    Anyway...

Sucks for you, I guess you are the unlucky one and only one person who can void an entire warranty by installing a lift. I am so sorry for your loss.

    Your dealer lied to you.

    This is all correct information-

Which does absolutely nothing. People think you can just magically say that and things get fixed.

Dealers can deny whatever they want. Then it’s up the court system/time/$$.

    Dealer denies it first.

Unless you think someone would take their Tacoma to a ford dealer for warranty work. o_O

Dealer takes your vehicle in and evaluates the issue. Once said issue is confirmed they contact Toyota for approval. So no the dealer does not deny a claim. Toyota makes all decisions on warranty work unless a dealer is doing it in good faith.

Coming from someone who has had warranty work denied. Corporate Toyota told me they rely on the dealer to decide what to warranty and what not to.

In fact Corp even put me on hold. Called the dealer. Then came back and said we aren’t warranting x because the dealer said y.

So while Toyota might be making some call, the dealer has most of the sway. At least in my case.

They have to rely on the dealer because they are not present when you come in for service. But they can send out field reps to evaluate if need be. Either way the OP should trust that the dealer nor Toyota can void an entire warranty because of a suspension lift.

Of course they can’t/won’t void an entire warranty. But if they can blame a defect on the customer and not warranty something I can guarantee they will.

Now will installing a lift void any warranty work? Probably not. Especially on bigger items. But there is always that risk when modifying a vehicle.

That's pretty strange. Dealers "want" warranty work. Unless you have a hacked suspension dealers will generally just send in your warranty work for approval.
Unless you have a bad repore with them for some reason. Warranty work is a huge percentage of any dealers business whether it's Toyota or Ford. They will not go out of there way to get a repair denied. Think about it, it's how they get paid. And the MM act does infact protect you from getting claims denied. But to be sure no motor claim will be denied because of your suspension.
@erok81 . I have seen your impressive build, but you are way extreme as I recall. Most peeps don't go to extreme you have. Your pretty much in the 1 percent category on your rig:thumbsup:
The rest of us 99% suspensions are not going to be denied on any OEM failures.

It was my headliner. So nothing suspension related.

And as I said. You can’t walk into a dealer and say the MM says you can deny this because blah blah.

If you get denied warranty work and really want to claim that act you have to go to court and prove your case. Maybe not all cases but that isn’t a magical word like abra cadabra. That’s all I’m saying.
