    Hi guys,

I am confused about something - hopefully someone can clear this up - as the information I am seeing here is different than what the dealer is telling me.

I was looking at a 2018 TRD pro - and the dealer contacted me with a price -

that had an MSRP of 45167. I looked over the spec sheet of the truck and see that this MSRP includes the following:

all weather fl liner/ door sill - 228
    mudgauards - 129
    door edge guard - 140
    wheel locks 80
    spare tire lock 75

    the total "options" were $652.

I asked if these could be removed and was told "no, that is how toyota builds it - so we cant remove these. these are not dealer installed options"

is this true? the truck has not yet arrived -- she told me it was to be built on 11/20 - and arrive a month later.

is this common to have all these "toyota" add on's? or should i find another dealer?

Toyota is weird about accessories. Some get put on at the factory, some at the port, and then obviously the dealer can add them. If that's what the truck was ordered with they don't have control over that, and it's all included in the monroney sticker.

I thought you had a week before build date to change anything including color unless it' changed since 2015

I am in MA - btw.

ok - I was just curious of the dealer had control over these or not - not the end of the world -- only $600 and like someone said - if I went in with a check for $600 less -- would they really turn me away. I don't plan on buying this truck -- was just more curious about how it worked.

I don't think I can afford a PRO - so will go with the Off Road Double Cab with Premium package. I got a quote for a 2018 - that was a couple thousand under MSRP - so about a 5K difference with the Pro -

I received similar answers with a truck I was considering buying. However, that doesn't mean they aren't negotiable. If you are ready to write a check and tell them you don't want some of those options, they do have the ability to remove some or discount them. It just depends how badly they want to sell you the truck.

I'm guessing if you had a check in hand and were willing to walk away they'd find some elbow room.

When I purchased my SR this past February, I traveled 100 miles south from MidAtlantic Dealer to a SouthEast Dealer. They had the exact truck with 3 miles. They did have three waste of time dealer add on options that I did not want that totaled $1017. Told them to remove those and I would purchase for our agreed upon price. Of course they said "no can do" so I shook their hand and said have a good day. Before I made it to the door they ran over and said "OK". Plus they left those items on at no cost to me. If you show them they will loose the entire deal over some stupid stuff you don't want - they will negotiate.
