My newly purchased 2015 Tacoma TRD has a red/black mark on the drivers side between the TRD sticker and the taillight. It only looks like a mark on the finish and not a scratch into the paint. What is the beat option for removing it with out causing any damage to the trck's finish? I thought about Mother's Clay Bar or Scratch Remover but figured I'd ask someone that would know more than I do about this. Thanks!!!!

Use a clay bar and then dawn soap. After this is done, have it buffed with polishing compound. Then wax your truck.

First thing I’d try would be some Meguiars ScratchX on a little foam pad. It’s kinda like Comet, but made for your truck’s paint. It’s not a diminishing abrasive, so you can stop anywhere in the buffing cycle. Maybe try a microfiber, if foam doesn’t cut it. Clay probably won’t do much, but you could try.

If you can feel it above the surface, I might give it a little scrape with a plastic razor blade before using the ScratchX; just to get a little head start.

Remember that you can put a “valley” in clear coat when working an abrasive by hand with pressure focused on a fingertip(s). It’s best to concentrate on getting even pressure across the face of the pad by sort of “palming” the pad. You’re not gonna burn through the clear in 30 seconds. Just be attentive to what you’re doing and you’ll be alright.

No go on the Goo Gone. 3M Wax & Scratch Remover did the trick. I forgot I had the stuff until I went digging around in the junk cabinet. One more task complete.
