    That makes two of us!

We're planning on hauling an RV and driving to Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. (You guys got me wondering about chains now...)

We'll probably only ski at Keystone but I would like to visit Breckenridge as well.

As long as you have 4wd you're good. Otherwise you'll need MT or studded tires or chains. If it gets real bad, you'll need chains regardless. If it's that bad I suggest parking your ass and not driving anywhere.

From Dillon the road to Keystone is easy. Breck isn't bad but the roads are narrower and may see more snow. The part you have to look out for is the western side of the Eisenhower tunnel. I-70 is notorious for adverse weather and catches people off guard since the weather can be completely different on either side. Last I was there, I watched an 18-wheeler lose traction and slide sideways as it passed me in a half-inch of snow. Driver deserves an award... somehow managed to straighten out his trailer and drive down without hitting anyone.

I have been through the Eisenhower tunnel a couple of times, bright and sunny on the east side, cloudy snowy and ice packed on the west side each time. Cool to drive through though.

Man that's crazy about that 18-wheeler! Some of them really know what they're doing, must have been a sight to see.

I've made the drive in winter before and I'm comfortable driving in the snow, but this will be the first time hauling an RV. Chains are cheap, I'll probably end up picking up a set just for peace of mind.

We're planning on leaving late Christmas Day or very early on the 26th and we'll be gone through the 4th or 5th. My last trips were in March and the snowfall was light and sporadic.

    Edit: got any winterizing tips?
