I have read the same. Too many rounds and the gun becomes a paper weight. I have retired mine for the time being, picked up a 700 for my new dedicated deer rifle.

I don't even shoot it anymore other than a hunting scenario.

I've not touched the sights since he gave it to me and it's quite accurate out to 200yds. Way more distance than what's generally needed here in heavily forested Maine.

You can set the block on a cinder block or stump. the beet stuff I just put on the ground and the deer eat at it till its gone then dig around in the dirt where it was.;)

Finally seeing some deer this morning. Damn. Doe and a button came in from one side, and a decent 6 from the other. They were having a stare down, the doe and button bolted which scared the 6 and he took off too

I rattled in a decent 6 point a couple days ago and passed on 9 doe. I've been waiting for my biggin to walk out but my trigger finger is getting itchy. Rifle season has been in for over a month and I only have one doe to show for it. Hopefully with the rut in full swing and taking all next week off :bananadance:I can lay a few down with the ol' .35 rem or my 300 win mag. (North Carolina)
