2000 PreRunner 2.7L Carrier Bearing - Center Support Bearing...

    So I crawl under my kid's truck and find this piece of work. Can't believe it got this bad.



    I am replacing it tomorrow and it came apart without any press whatsoever. It seems the prior replacement was done with significant anti-seize so it made my job easier. Question is this: There were NO WASHERS behind the flange and in front of the bearing as is depicted in many tutorials and videos. Are these simply missing? Do some drive shafts have them and some not, depending on the desired backlash/slop/tolerance? I don't want to put it back together without them if they are necessary, but the truck has been pretty good for 40K miles without them.

    Every Toyota parts site I go to doesn't show the prop shaft even in the prop shaft section. I think it's a glitch. All I seem to be able to find is an image of the rear end/differential.

    Also, anyone have good luck with a particular aftermarket brand? Seems OEM is about $200! And Dorman etc. are in the $50 range. Do I need OEM here?

    So a trip to the dealer to look at the parts diagram clearly shows two washers in between the flange and the bearing. Must have been left out by the "professional" drive line firm I paid to replace the bearing 40K miles ago. Thanks guys. Had to order the parts.

    Part numbers for stake nut and washers that are involved in center support bearing replacement of my 2000 PreRunner are as follows:

    90179-18009 - Nut
    90201-25006 - Washers

    For some reason, no internet parts sites that I found show a diagram of the actual prop/drive shaft. Even under the heading of "Propeller Shaft" the OEM Toyota sites take you to a diagram of the rear diff and axle.
