    I just got my first truck (yay!) --- a 2017 Tacoma SR5, 4-door, 5 foot bed.
I'd like to get a tonneau cover before the winter rainy season starts here in the SFO Bay Area.

    I need a tonneau that:
    -- folds back
    -- is lockable
-- does NOT LEAK (most important).

I've been looking at the EXTANG ENCORE and the FOLD-A-COVER G4 ELITE and would love some feedback on those two tonneaus.

I'd also like some recommendations on other tonneaus.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Anne

PS I noticed that the EXTANG ELITE requires that you drill holes at the front of the bed for tubes that drain the water. This sounds pretty scary to me. Is it a bad idea to drill holes (that could rust) in the bed of my truck??

Being the frugal consumer I am...........I sprung for the Gator roll up.......$279

They may have something that may interest you in fold up...C/S is purty good.......

Actually had to buy two of the same...when my wife saw mine on the '14....she needed one for the '05

I'd wait till Black Friday week & get a smokin deal if you can......Gator shipping free......

I'm also looking for a tri-fold and here is what I've gathered from most posts and videos online:

-For OEM cover youll need rails included
-All tri-folds are basically water resistant ... not 100% water tight
-consider if you want your cover to have a lock, material depending where you live, and if you want need the cover to open without lowering the gate (I believe the fold-a-cover checks out in these areas).

Im leaning more towards the G4 myself because of the lock and I like that it sits on bed rails. I think this helps with the water a little more.

I bought the least expensive Gator for my used 2010.Was pleasantly surprised, seemed at least as good as more expensive ones I've seen.Easy install, only thing is that the weatherstripping won't stick under 55 degreesF. The instructions say it & it's true.

Love the OEM unit. Dealer through it in with the purchase & don’t think I’ll ever buy a truck without one.
