Hello, I'm new to the forum! My 4x4 high and low stopped working about a week ago my 2003 tacoma 3.4 automatic. Manual 4x4 lever. In 2 wheel drive I can spin my front driveshaft by hand but I can't in 4 wheel drives. I jacked all 4 off the floor and put it in 4x4 and had someone press the gas. The front driveshaft was spinning like it should have been but only the driveshaft. The cv axles where not spinning. Also the ligh doesn't come on anymore at all. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Not familiar with the the 01-04 front diff, but do you know if it's got an electronic actuator that's supposed to engage when it's shifted into 4x4 or some vacuum lines? If it's simply running all the time until the front driveshaft is driven from the transfer case it sounds like you'd need a new front diff. My truck is older so it's vacuum activated - wouldn't help too much if yours is not I guess.

Should be a electric ADD differential. There is an electric plug on the shift tube that makes the CV axles splines engage for 4x4. Check the plug. I don't know too much but I would start there. See plug on shift tube. There are a couple vacuum lines as well but electric engages 4x4 I believe.

The female portion of plug is lower right side of diff below tube your cv would be pressed into for clarification. This is a diff out of my 2003. Transfer case is stick manual shift but auto differential disconnect is on the diff and electric.

Update: I took the actuator off and ran power directly to the actuator from the battery the actuator moves but when it's hooked to the wiring that runs to it it doesn't, so is there a break in the wiring?
