I've got a question for anyone that might have learned through experience. I have a daystar 2.5" lift kit on my 98 regular cab. the front is the leveling kit and the rear is the bigger shackle. I clearly remember it stating that you shouldn't combine that lift with other types of suspension lifts. (IE: lift blocks, ect) with that being said if I put an add-a-leaf on the rear would I run into any clearance issues or wear problems?

I need to take the springs off to repair weld a rotted out frame so since I haul around 1000lbs of steel in the thing nearly everyday I was just thinking about getting another leaf in there while its apart if it wouldn't be too big of a problem. If any one has done this I'd appreciate feedback of anysort as I really don't want to do it and then have to undo it right away since I'm kinda gonna be doing all this with a broken wrist.

I just read a good explanation on why longer shackles are not the way to add ride height. The shackles are there to maintain the proper angles for your leafs to center the axle. Adding a leaf certainly would help with your payload, but if you've got your original springs, how much life do they really have?

My advice would be to go with a whole new pack from Dakar or Deaver... And go back to a standard length shackle. You'll carry more, have a better ride and know you're not mix matching a jumble of parts.

All this after the frame repair of course!!!! Just finished with mine, you'll be glad you took care of it!
