I have a 2004 Taco pre runner v6. So for the past couple of weeks my truck has had a metal on metal screeching noise. As far as I can tell the noise is coming from the front of the truck, I can't be any more specific since the noise only happens when the truck is moving. The noise usually occurs when my truck starts moving after a complete stop or when I'm coasting below 45 mph. Usually when I'm going 50 mph or higher there is usually no noise but there has been a couple of times. My shocks are in good condition so I know that's not the issue. I'm about to replace the water pump and put in a new timing belt kit as well because I'm thinking that's where the problem is, but before doing this i would like to see if anyone has has a similar problem and what the solution was before I do anything to my truck.

The fact that it only does it when moving makes me think you should be looking at center support bearing or u-joints.

There is a rock (or a metal object) between one of the brake dust shields and the brake disc.

Ooh, that too. You offroad guys encounter that much more than us city slickers.
