Thats an expedition imo, you can tell by the back windows and the shape of the roof/overall car. They do some crazy conversions down there!

I was thinking the same thing, but I didn't want to throw it out there without a second opinion - their 2nd to third gen and 4runner front clip to Tacoma conversions are pretty slick too. At least from what can be seen on the outside - could be hacked together under the sheetmetal, but they look cool.

Can someone do me a quick solid and measure the distance between the weather strips on top of the cab on a second gen please and tell me the measurement?

Thanks man!!! Just did it today after getting my snapped axle rebuilt.
    IMG_1513.jpg

And after talking to dirt king about this while talking to them about my axle, I sent them pics to show to their designer. I guess their second gen kit (with secondary shock tabs) had a few other minor changes that affected the clearances here. They are now sending their kit with machined spacers and bolts and they're sending me a set as well. Plenty of room at droop now for the hose clamps.

Hmmmmmmmm I need to look at mine. Still in the process of installing. But I looked at clearance quickly on Tuesday and it looked pretty good. I got my kit maybe a month ago and spacers/bolts were not included. Good to know for sure!!!

OEM is only like 75ish more bucks. And you know it'll last a long time. Seems worth it over any rebuild no matter the shop. Unless they have some secret recipe for making it stronger.

If you run a traditional style cv clamp it's a non issue. Tc sends a traditional style boot clamp with their axles cause clearance is tight on the race kit

The last I heard oem from @gunny1005 was $550 picked up in AZ so it would be more like $200-225 more than the shop where Solo sends their racks for the Tundra upgrade and all their other work that they use all top quality parts and aerospace seals for so they don't leak as easily anymore - their words, not mine.

But yeah $550-575 for a rack is pretty good so if $200 or so isn't a big deal at the time I might get a new one and eventually get the old one rebuilt as a trail spare. Either way I'll do some kind of upgrade soon - the poor thing on mine has seen some abuse.

Yeah this was figured out over the last two weeks with me talking to them. I'd give them a call and see if they would send you some.
I was running traditional style clamps, but with the machined inner cv's that dirt king does, it allows for more droop than the tc race kit. I was limiting my travel to where the clamp was hitting the lca. After the clamp hitting the lca and popping them off, I wanted to run hose clamps instead. With the spacer there is now plenty of room

Plus an oem rack comes with 2 oem inner tie rods which run 137 bucks a piece...so really it's a cheap rack! It's the tie rods that make it expensive.

I feel like the benefit of the extra 1/2" of droop is negated by having to run stacked washers in a critical place that normally has two machined surfaces mated together and torqued to spec, but to each their own.

As @Evenflow stated, solo motorsports does the same when installing some kits. And I am going to swap the washers with machined spacers when they get here. They literally called me to mention the new spacers as I was doing the install tonight

Sometimes I gotta use some spacers to get an extra quarter inch of droop when it's cold out.
