    A thing or two...
Do you actually need wheel spacers? Are you trying to fix a clearance issue or do you just want to randomly push out your wheels farther? What size are you looking for?

Spidertrax are popular. They're 1.25" thick.

    Ebay is a nonono

Spider trax has 1.25 or 1.5

Bora you can pick whatever you want.

Personally anything over 1.5 with a large wheel offset means you will be eating through wheel Bearings so be careful of that.

    HUB CENTRIC ONLY

I took my truck in to my tire shop today to have my wheels rotated and brought my 1.5" hub centric spacers with me in hopes of having them installed while the wheels were off. Apparently they don't advice having spacers installed and they talked me out of putting them on. I value their opinion and expertise. They told me that these will put unwarranted stress and wear on my front suspension and I would experience shacking at high speed. I was also told that in some cases, they can actually break apart or the studs snap off and the wheel coming off while traveling. The example used made sense to me. I was told to imagine an axle with two wheels and standing on the center. The further the wheels are apart the greater the center pressure becomes eventually causing the axle to bend. What is your experience with spacers? Should I heed their advice and warning or just go ahead and install them on?

    not much
coming from the sport car world and having only owned a tacoma 2 years. I would never use them on any car unless you love replacing wheel bearings. I can't imagine the extra stress and weight would help on the tacoma.

Just get the right wheels you want with that offset to give that "Push out" you're going for.

Over 60k on my 2011 with spacers, approaching 70k on my 2015 with spacers. No problems what so ever, I basically forget about them

Farther out the wheels are the more stress goes on suspension and steering components ON the axle, not the axle itself. One big thing you will always see will be wheel bearings because well, they are bearings and are not engineered to have that extra force on them at all times a 1.5 spacer and wheels with a far out offset would cause. Shaking at high speed usually will not happen with Bora or spidertraxx spacers. As long as its centered on the hub and the mating surfaces are clean with all lug nuts torqued down you shouldn't have an issue. A lot of members here have somewhat close to stock offset wheels and use 1.25" spacers to get that clearance they need in the wheel wells when flexed out on trails. Bora and spidertraxx are quite high quality which is why you pay so much for 4 of them, i have no memory of seeing any threads on snapping studs off those. Lug centric ebay spacers (or some lug centrics in general) on the other hand will snap your lugs right off, that would be the case of pushing the wheels out far on heavy tires making the week point the stock studs on the vehicles hub.

My son in law put a 6" lift on his F150 and 35" tires. I don't know who figured out the wheel offset for him, but when it was all said and done, he required 2" spacers to clear with no rub. 8 months later, he needs to replace the left front wheel bearing. I warned him of the possibility, but he didn't want to listen. I don't believe his problem is strictly due to the spacers though. I think it's a combination of the spacers, wheel and tire combo. His tires extend past the wheel wells by at least 10".
