Any thoughts on engaging 4WD every couple of weeks for a couple of miles just to keep the parts properly lubricated? I don't use 4WD that often but I'm curious what people do who don't actively engage 4WD that often. I limit my 4WD use to snow in the winter (not much considering I'm in MD) and a trip to the beach. Other than that I'm in 2WD the rest of the year.

    Thanks!

yes it is actually recommended in the owners manual, just do it on a straighaway, highway or such.

I excersize mine every time it rains. Did it that way on all my previous trucks never an issue. Just dont take sharp turns to avoid binding

IMHO, so long as you engage 4WD a couple of times per year, don't worry about it. The problem arises when someone buys a 4x4 and NEVER uses it.

I wondered the same thing. I have a 2009 4x4 TRD and use 4wd often in my hunting and fishing adventures so I don’t have to worry about it. However I looked in my owners manual and did not see anything about running in 4wd occasionally. I may have missed it but I did a pretty thorough search.
