Clutch kit for supercharged 3.4

im buying a trd supercharger at the end of December for my 2000 3.4.
Well my throw out bearing started making noise. So I figured I would go ahead and plan for the future and get a clutch kit that can handle it all.

Any suggestions? Won’t be racing or anything crazy. Just throwing it on there to better as a daily. Will ride some trails some but nothing crazy.

Well.....i say I won’t race it...we all know how that will end up once it’s installed

You don't need some special clutch for the supercharger. The stock clutch will be fine. The supercharger doesn't increase the 3.4's HP from 190 to 400+ like you see on V8's with the stock supercharger pulley. With the stock pulley you might get up to 260ish HP with a perfect tune, which the stock clutch can handle. If you go to a smaller supercharger pulley you still won't need a special clutch.

But it is your money, if you want to throw in a 4 pad racing clutch that grabs like a mother....by all means go ahead and get it.

 

Oh ok. I’m new to the Tacomas so I didn’t know. Will the gears be fine in the stock trans?

 

I've been on a stock Aisin clutch for a year now with my supercharged 3.4 and it works just fine, I'm not gentle on the clutch either (a lot of 4x4'ing).

At one point, I had a Competition Stage 2 clutch installed but the shop I hired put the thing in backward and it was toast within a week. I was told though that Competition Clutch is not a good brand to go with after I got the issue sorted out (ended up just going with a stock clutch through Toyota because I was in a pinch).

I've heard LCEngineering sells good performance clutches, check out URD's website for options too. But if you have to stick with the stock clutch for awhile, it should do fine.
