Better yet get a mobile jump box. I've used mine like a dozen times already helping others. And I don't have to worry about using my lights setting up camp because if my battery dies in the middle of nowhere I can just jumpstart myself

Yes they do, it's a contracted service who knows what you will get or when you will get it. A decent portable jumpbox/air compressor is $100ish (https://www.amazon.com/STANLEY-FATMAX-PPRH7DS-Professional-Station/dp/B01DLYQ4DS) Kinda like buying insurance, you don't see the value in it until you need it.

I'd recommend something even smaller and can store in your glovebox or back seat, this is the one I use:
    https://www.amazon.com/Beatit-18000...rtable+jump+start&refinements=p_72:2661618011

Reason being is the portable compressor on the first one is rather useless on our trucks anyways unless you need it to just add a couple PSI. I'd get a separate single purpose ARB or VivaAir compressor than hooks up straight to our batteries, they can inflate offroad tires from 10psi to 40psi MUCH faster and they won't overheat halfway through.

Are you really asking how a "portable car jump starter" will "jump start a desd (sic) battery?"

    ok i'll bite :)

    1. Turn on the portable car jump starter
    2. Pop your hood
    3. Connect the red jumper clip to the POSITIVE battery terminal
    4. Connect the black jumper clip to the NEGATIVE battery terminal
    5. Start the car

Separately if you also require an air compressor its a good idea to buy an ARB or VivaAir battery connected compressor for reasons previously explained. So you have a quality jump starter AND a quality air compressor.

I do not recommend a combination jumper/compressor because you'll just end up with a tool that is mediocre at both.

Hope you have a good day friend!

Actually, length is 10.87 on a platform that is 10.5. I assume that you can tilt the battery, but I've never done that.

Thanks for the detailed background information.

Can you please confirm that a group 34 is a direct, drop-in replacement for my truck with the tow package? It looks like we have 1 Odyssey dealer in the state and it's a little over 200 miles away. If the Odyssey is the best option, what's comparable or second best if I can't get that one?

I've actually looked into that, but Amazon won't ship them up here and I don't trust whatever random models they have on the auto parts stores' shelves. I can try Amazon again; which specific one would you recommend?

You're right about the roadside assistance, but Alaska is a big place and communications are not always reliable. In this case my family was at a park and plenty of other folks were around, but if it can happen there it can happen anywhere, know what I mean?

    ----------

Thanks again for everybody trying to help out!

Not sure what you mean, sorry. The stock battery is a group 24. Doesn't require to be tilted...

It is not a direct drop in replacement, sorry for not clarifying that. Because it is about 1" shorter in height the factory hold down will not keep it secure without modification. This can be done, or you can get a spacer from Odyssey to place under the battery to raise it up to the proper height. These comes with some of the Odyssey batteries but they've stopped sending them out with the group 34 for some reason. You'll need to request it be ordered. I hope that helps!

Sorry to be clear as mud. The battery platform in my 2017 TRD OR with the 24F battery is 10.5 inches in length and the Odyssey battery is 10.87 inches in length. The platform has a lip on it to help contain the 24F battery, but the Odyssey would have to be tilted up on the lip on one side or the other.

I got this one, never used it for my truck, but jump started the riding lawn mower a few times before recharges that I just did to do.

Ah, gotcha. Just trim out one side. The tray is primarily to catch and leaking acid or water. The AGM's don't leak so it's not an issue. Or just take the plastic tray out all together.
